why is everyone supporting marijuana or alcohol, they clearly have a bad side effect and the only reason anyone should be using marijuana is for medical purposes only. they affect the mind and damage the ability to think correctly and the addiction causes your body to deteriorate.

    it should both be banned.

Are people not free to do what they will, regardless of whether something is bad for you?

Marijuana has never killed anyone. Alcohol on the other hand has killed plenty. Drunk driving and Alcohol poisoning.. Alcohol is much worst but it is legal. Marijuana does not except you get a high from it and it is illegal.

I personally think alcohal causes more problems rather it being short-term or long-term use, worse for both cases in my opinion.

Whats the point in making it illegal, when you can't/don't stop it coming in to the country. If you can't search every container shipped into the country each day, then all you are doing by making it illegal is handing the business to criminals. This leads to bad quality weed, and raises the prices, and the money they waste on the half-assed policing when compared to what they'd save and earn if they legalised and put a tax on it, is billions each year - enough to solve many of society's REAL problems.

It is illegal already, and I think that America is doing a pretty good job keeping a lot of things out of the country with-out the help of citizens.

Legal or illegal the plants will still be brought into the U.S. by te same people, many will still try to aviod the law to get away from paying taxing.

The same people will still yet again being shipping the marijuana in and out of the country, Do you really think that America will grow better marijuana then columbia and other places?

The government makes money fining people for having marijuana, the prisons make money from holding convicts, more people get jobs in these prisons and police districts giving people jobs, and the government can tax the peoples paychecks.

Weed is everywhere, you just have to go to college to find that out. So are they doing a good job? My real point was if anything gets into the country then they are failing, and making it illegal has detrimental effects - such as the business falling into the hands of gangs who, if they want to be successful, have no choice but to police themselves, with violence, as well as harmless college kids ending up being stigmatised and persecuted probably unfairly and sometimes even doing hard time.

Like in Holland the jobs would probably go to shop owners, and companies who would start to proffesionally grow weed (most would be homegrown, because aside from Holland there's not many places you can legally import high quality weed). It will not be controlled by the same people, it will be controlled by the government, and the tax (by which I meant sales tax) would be payed by the buyer, and even if they charged 80% would probably still be cheaper than it is now. In Amsterdam, as far as I know they don't import weed, they import breeds of plants from places like india but grow at home, proffesionally, and it is great for their economy - the only "smuggling" is from neighbouring towns, because in Amsterdam weed is like 50% more expensive than in the rest of Holland. (Because of all the tourists)

If it's about 10 weeks old been smuggled through 2-3 countries by the time it reaches you, it's not good quality. Also some cheap ass drug dealers have been known to put plastic and mix stuff in if you're buying resin - the only reason they can get away with this is because the business is not regulated and people cannot complain. And you can grow good weed anywhere, even in your closet, if you use hydroponics. There is not much choice with buying illegal weed, you just get what's around, whereas go to a country where it's legal like in Amsterdam there's so many different types, each with their own flavor and characteristics, and I have to say without doubt the best quality and better than what's shipped in from Jamaica or wherever. If it was legalised in US you guys would get the same variety and quality.

Acutally, prison guards wages come out of taxes, and so do police wages - both organisations are non-profit and funded by (not making money for) the government.

Marijuana is illegal for a reason. IT effects 1 in 5 people who reguallarly smoke it by causing sycosis or schizophrenia.

I drink and smoke marijuana and find that the weed has the worst effect on me. It causes me to forget easy to remember information and also to "skat" out sometimes, while drinking just makes me happy.

    I completely agree.

In countries like mexico, ireland, and brazil, where there is no drinking age, there isn't as much acoholism. I think that's part of the problem. I heard that once someone turns 21 it's custom to take 21 shots or tequila. If there was no legal age, I don't think there would be a problem.

I really don't see anything wrong with Marijuana, like you said it can be an invaluable resource for doctors and people who just want to kill the pain. Theres really no harm in it as far as i'm concerned.

The Government can't make money of MAjuana because theyd sell it for to much and no one would buy from them when people everywhere are growing it and sell it for cheaper. Thats the only reason ....

To clear this all up , I used to be an alcoholic , i would drink way to much and try to function with society. I have also smoked 15 grams a day for the last 10 years . Would anyone like to know why and what i think is safer?

    Marijuana:Cannabis sativa:Dope:Weed:Green:

I think that smoking weed is much safer than drinking any type of alcohol for this reson . If i drink to much i could actually be stupied enough to get in my car and drive somewere and possibly crash and kill or injure many people .
If i smoke to much weed....I would never be able to find my keys, let alone get into my car .
