Is there a sythe vent?

This seems like a rather good idea. But post count really counts for nothing, so we'd have to do something else. I'd be helping to set this up if you guys need help. I might be able to dedicate a box to running the server.

 

So are we gonna do it?

Personally, I cant set up a server right now I'm working on a school project. Maybe tomorrow or later tonight, but I think a mod should be the admin of it.

wow..by the sounds of it you guys dont really know alot about vent..

i've been playing competitive guild wars for 2 years now..
(big MMORPG). and to play most of the PvP in guild wars
like guild vs guild and HA you NEED vent. its way too much of a req
vent + mic is an absolute must.

So getting to the point..

my guild(in RS its called a clan) we play competitively and we
own a vent server.(as in we pay proffessional vent companies
monthly to host it for us). and i think for the past 2 years
i've played guild wars. i've probably gone through 100s of vent servers.

so anyway.

i have vent servers... i have mod powers... i know how to
make channels keeep it clean and make sure they dont fuck up.


CONCLUSION : If you need a vent server for sythe. I AM YOUR MAN.

if you want a good req for this.. i suggest post count + joined date. like lets say you have had to have a good post count + you joined 5months ago or more to
use it.


OH AND BTW. 1 person is 100% NOT enough to host a vent server that would have like 40 people in it. it will lag like wildfire.
you need to rent them with companies. ive tried hosting one.
it does not work.

Curt, I think there will be enough interest.. For example we have about 5 interested users in this thread that have posted alone, not to mention the more users we will get once it actually gets up and running.

Ventrilo costs. Teamspeak doesnt. I can help set up a teamspeak server. I used to run one personaly. I could host it on my PC.

 

Umm, vent doesn't cost a cent.

Maybe if you own a serer it does, but it can't be much.

 

Well the server cost's. I know that. But it is worth it. You get a much clearer audio.

Yeah, well.. I think sythe, or somebody on sythe, can fund the $3 a month or w/e that it costs for a server. I might be able to help with a little of it but I'm not making any promises.

 

Is it the same person in the last picture? It looks like she became a man half way down.

Make sure you disable binds, etc. People would probably enjoy crashing it every 2 minutes.

 

Post count doesn't prove trust but it does prove activness providing you dont get 7/8ths of your posts in the spam forum.

They have the IRC, it doesn't necessarily have to be accessible to all members.

There is a chat option on vent, but only one-on-one. You would have more fun in the IRC.
