Selling Island Space (Cool just look)

Alright, hypothetically wouldn't it be kick ass if 3,500 people could each pitch in 10 grand US and buy this island?

Each person (or family) would get 10 acres of land and at least some coastline frontage (unless requested otherwise for flooding reasons, etc). Obviously water, power and sewage would need to be taken care of but here's how I plan to do it (It's pretty idealistic and anarchist) -


*Each person/family is responsible for their own electricity (Add 30 grand US for solar or wind power per reasonably sized house)

*Each person/family must dispose of waste on their own land (Or in the middle of the ocean, don't ask don't tell). Bio-hazardous waste must remain a reasonable distance away from neighboring plots and smell and sanitation can not pose a threat to the well being of another.

*Each person/family is entitled to all natural resources on their land (trees, wildlife, etc) and may do what they wish to these resources as long as it doesn't damage neighbors or neighbor's property (cutting down trees and smashing their house in doing so)

*There is no law enforcement per se but if someone is going ape shit and killing people a militia may subdue the crazy guy.



Above all, have fun. Do what you want on your land just don't fuck with mine. Any takers? People can have more than 1 plot if you're willing to pay. IE 100 acres of land would cost approx 100K US.




(No shit this plan has tons of flaws but ITS YOUR OWN FUCKING ISLAND MAN! If I knew 350 people well enough I would actually consider throwing down 150 grand or so and building utilities and such and using income from tourism to pay for it. Good island though, no?)

40k? It's 35 million. What makes it a good deal is all the land it comes with. 35,000 acres makes the price per acre $1,000 each, cheaper than you'll find anywhere in America.

We live in Mexico so drugs are cheap and as people were selected on to the island we would make sure to cover a wide range of job specifications and let people privately run them (IE a doctor could open a doctor's office/hospital and charge whatever)

And remember, there are only a couple thousand people here. The odds that they ALL get sick are very low. It's pretty close to other islands too so they will be taken care of.


People can come and leave the island if invited, just don't fuck any one's stuff up. If you want to have your family visit that's fine just don't make me deal with them.

The thing is, there will be no gangs because assholes aren't living on the island. 3,500 people don't merge into gangs and kill each other. It's like taking your school (except all the people in it are educated and adults) and letting them live. Not everyone is going to like everyone but they would go on a killing spree.

 

I would make that island my own country if it was already mine.

Tourist spots...hmm...hotels, airports, etc. where would we get all that?

 

Fat Lard, thanks for the drop party you had a while back. Never got the opportunity to say that to you. I think that's a good idea, but I wouldn't live on that island unless the candidates to be citizens on that island meet some requirements, such as no criminal record and whatnot. On the other hand, if I had a pretty good guarantee that it would be safe, I would live with my family there. Also, I would want some honest people with useful occupations such as a doctor on my island. I wouldn't condone anarchy though, I prefer peace and order. Anarchy usually leads to people fighting due to humanity's selfish nature.

Wow you guys are retarded. The idea is minimal government and when we start requiring hotels and such someone will need to run it. Here's more how stuff will happen.

If Billy buys coastline real estate and a boat then he can bring people to and from the island and charge money. Now if John notices that Billy is making a ton of money charting boats between islands and has a monopoly on it, he might decide to open his own dock. As things progress and tourists begin to flock in more, Jake and 10 of his friends get an idea. They buy surplus land and a helicopter and bring in tourists faster and make more money than both.


Stuff goes like that. If all goes according to plan, those 10,000 dollar parcels of land you bought up front will be worth 100,000 dollars because space is needed for this or that.


It's a truly free market society. You can be as rich or as poor as you want. Volunteerism will be a huge factor in this working. Giving a place to stay for someone down on their luck is better than leeching the money out of other hard working people who may not want to pay for them for whatever reason.
