how close are you to the connection? (the actual wireless modem)

because i go on sythe and pull all-nighters off my psp and the router is in my parent's room, so im playing from like 30 feet away and through a wall and i still get like 70% connection

is it your own connection or a nearby neighbours? because if you are close and have the connection and you move it will drop it because you are too far away

    PSP , Internet Keeps Dropping...

I had the same problem with my PS3. Picked up my wireless and dropped constantly. Its most likely just the way your wireless is set up. I found out that if I disabled my SSID or w/e it called my ps3 actually stayed hooked online. After awile though it would turn off the internet connection between all my other computers because it won't be able to pick up the connection anymore. You can do this but, if it messes up your other computers, don't say I didn't warn you. A simple restarting the modem usually allowed my computer to connect temporarily so I could go on and turn SSID back on when I was done using the PS3.

To do it, get on your computer and type only your IP address in the part where you enter website addresses. A window should pop up asking for user and password, this can vary between people but try user Admin and password admin or /admin. From there you should see enable or disable SSID. If you don't know what IP to enter or the user and password try searching it up in google or something, I found a few guides that explain how and all the alternative users and password people usually have.

It was never fixed completely though, when I moved I had wireless internet again but a different router or modem or w/e and it worked fine. The one that gave me the problems was an old linksys one. So if you don't plan on getting something other then wireless any time soon try and get a new one of those or try downloading the updates for yours.

Just turn any encrypion off, its pointless anyway, If you have a l33t h4x0r living next door they could get in if they wanted.
    PS3 sucks, buy a 360.
What kinda of router is it ?
    Linksys/Speedtouch ?

The point of encryption is not only to keep off "hackers", but leechers as well.

But the best way is to completely disable encryption, and to use MAC filtering. First, disable, if any encryption. Use your PSP to connect, and any other computer that uses wireless. Once they are connected, go to your router settings, enable MAC filtering, and select only the devices that you want connected to be allowed. Sure, encryption will be gone, but no one can connect unless they have your MAC address. MAC address can be spoofed, but it doesn't matter if the person doesn't know the address to spoof.

too bad its about PSP smart one. on a side note 360's are the ones that suck, all they do is break.

but really just buy the latest router/modem and it will work fine.
