[Discussion] Rocket League - Greatest, pick up and play game

So rocket league has been out for quite some time now, it was a game that I saw on twitch, and always heard about, and even watched a fair amount of gameplay on, but just never jumped the gun and got the game.

I went over to a friends house, where it was him, 2 friends, and myself, and we played 4 person split screen, and after my first game I was HOOKED. I wasn't that amazing at the game, but it was just so simple and the fact that all of us were able to be on and play was so much fun.

My gaming history has been strictly shooters, minus a couple games, and since picking up rocket league, it has easily become my favorite game of all time.

I have around....maybe 6-700 hours in rocket league right now (Diamond 1 in all competitive modes) and you are really able to see your skill increase with the amount of hours you put in (I know its obvious but you REALLY notice)

Any chance I get I tell friends to get the game, because to me, it just seems like a game that anyone is able to pick up themselves, or just play with others, and just have a blast. I feel like it's been a while since there has been a game like this where you all can hop on, split screen, and just have a ball playing.

tl;dr - Rocket league seems to be one of the most fun games to just pick up and play, no matter who you are, and can have fun playing.

 

Have had Rocket League for a long long time now. Have like 1300 hours played and am currently diamond 2. Can confirm its a great game.

 

what about it, do you think makes you come back to the game so much? I think in terms of games, it was innovative for the style of game it was, like yeah there is fifa, but there isn't anything out there that seems to require as much mechanical skill.

From a viewers standpoint, i'm sure it seems "easy" but when you start to learn more about the game, there is some stupid good talent in rocket league.

 

I agree that it is very much skill based and the learning curve pretty much keeps progressing. In the first few 100 hours you learn to fly properly. Then the next few 100 hours you learn to actually do stuff while flying. Then the next few 100 hours you could spend on learning stuff like dribbling or making moves from the walls. There is a nice learning curve that makes the game fun.
