I've always been a Windows/Android guy. When the iPhone 6s launched, I decided to give Apple a shot. Honestly, I've been extremely pleased. I'm strongly considering picking up a Macbook for school. Has anyone come from windows & were glad they made the switch? Having little to no experience with Macs is honestly the reason I dislike them. User interface is totally different from what I've used my entire life. I do have a Windows desktop that I use at home for anything demanding, but from what I've read macbooks are unparalleled in terms of battery life & quality. Can anyone convince me one way or the other?
One thing I've learned is that you can't just look at the specs. Optimization and software is a major factor. For example, the iPhone 6s only had a dual core chip, but absolutely destroyed every other flagship phone on the market in benchmarks, even though the competition was sporting 4-8 cores. If you simply look at macbook hardware, yes it appears to be an insane rip off. That's not the whole picture though, there's a reason nearly 90% of people who do productivity use them.
I had to use a macbook at my apprenticeship at an advertisement agency. This was 3 years ago. Needless to say I haven't touched a macbook since.
macbooks are just premium sellers, they look and feel premium. If you want premium you want a macbook. Windows on the other hand offer much much much greater specs and convince, as most things are built for windows. From my stand points, and i've had both, I only recommend macbooks if you're schooling, but a chromebook can fit that need easily. Like I said, macbooks are there to feel the premium.
I've used a mac and their os is a huge switch from windows. Everything is different and will feel extremely gimmicky at first, but that's just me because I never really used it for more than an hour or so.
For phones I have been getting every iPhone since iPhone 4. But in terms of PC it has always been Windows for me. You just have to find which one is right for you.
Put it this way, if Mac's didn't look half appealing, no-one would ever buy one. Would strongly advise sticking with Windows for ease of use, simplicity and functionality. Or if you want to look.. cool.. pick Mac.
I think it really depends on your preference. One never touched a mac or iPhone. Only apple is the iPad cause we have one at home. But I have friends that used macs at school and have stuck with it since
I would really try to stay away from Apple computers as you pay for an apple with a bite rather than a computer most of the time. If anything make it a really cheap Macbook and just have an external USB flash drive of 1 terabyte or so plugged in for extra storage. You'll get a laptop that's pretty much the same but with TONS more storage and even with the terabyte flash drive you'll probably save $1000 or more if you compare to the most expensive macbook. Pretty much one of the only things I like about Mac is iMovie, but obviously has more features. I just wouldn't recommend it altogether. If you have never used one before I'd suggest asking some people if you can try out their macbook and try some activities you like to do (play games, watch YouTube, stream movies, write stories, etc.) and just get a feel of how it is. Good luck on your purchases my friend!
I agree with most people here. I think that apple products are really for people that have the money to show off their favorite brand. Also customization is such a plus on Windows PC's!
Mac computers are almost twice as expensive as PC computers and run like trash. If you buy a mac you're a moron plain and simple
As an update if anyone cares, I bought a Matebook X (actually 3 of them) and kept getting factory defects. I got annoyed and said fuck it, I'll give apple a try. I can honestly say this is hands down the best laptop I've ever used. I have no intentions of using it for gaming, I have a desktop for that. The trackpad alone is phenomenal. Insanely accurate plus all of the gestures/scrolling make a mouse unnecessary in the first place. I've always ridiculed apple users for spending so much on "inferior" hardware, but now I feel like an idiot. I went into this expecting to hate the laptop and I've been pleasantly surprised.
Macbook Pro all the way bro. The price isn't even that bad compared to Windows these days. I'll bet you can find a 2015 on sale for like 800 bucks new, especially when the new line comes out. Like some others commenting I shit on Apple until I actually tried one of their products. It also holds its value extremely well, which helps mitigate the premium. I'll never go back to Spyware 10.
Mac is for people who want to feel like superior dickheads, it's based on unix but way spendy. You're paying for something that you can get for free. Windows is for old farts who don't want to change. You don't need a pc, just get a dog.
There is no reason I would ever get a MacBook especially now considering they are removing all of the ports from the laptop itself and forcing you to buy dongles just so you can use your external devices. No thank you.
I have a Macbook & a Windows Desktop and wouldn't change either.. The MacBook is super portable, performance is great, battery life is great. I have had a MacBook Pro which is just overkill they're too big and clunky, I now just use a standard MacBook and I've never had any Performance issues.
I have an iMac 5k, Macbook Pro, top spec windows laptop and a custom built desktop. Each serve their function, it really depends on your uses for them. If playing games I default to the gaming pc, if programming I default to the iMac.. If working away from home, then I still have the same utility on the laptops. However, generally I use the Windows PC for general browsing and use.
