Uber London licence not renewed

What are peoples thoughts?

Personally I drive everywhere and used uber twice in its existence.

I know a lot of Uber fans who will be pissed though.

 

I'm pissed. I use Uber 3x a week at least. Cheapest alternative is what, Addison Lee or Gett or something which is about double the twice. Really, really annoying and it means I'll have to start using public transport again on nights out. Looks like my 5.0 rating was all for nothing!

 

They are going to court to dispute so they could be back.

I used Addison Lee more than Uber and have found their service to be better despite the slightly higher cost. There are many other apps.

Personally not too bothered seeing it go.

 

Yeah, I spoke to a friend of mine who practices law and he reckons that Uber will win the appeal. So I'm holding out.

Addison Lee does have a better service, however I think the higher cost will affect people who use it often. I wouldn't mind paying the extra £5 or so if I used them once a week for example, but 3+ times a week is when I would have reservations about it.

 

Uber is a massive company now and have more than enough $$$ to throw at legal costs. Although they have been banned in other countries. Will be interesting to see what happens as this will then set the premise of actions regarding other countries/towns and cities.

I am however glad that uber eats has not been shut down.

 

Haven't used Uber really as it came into existence after I moved away from London. It's sad though, there is an estimated 40k self-employed drivers, alot with car finance to pay who are at risk.

 

Do you have other rideshare apps like LYft up there?

 

Uber had a sharing service, other than that, not that I know of.

 

Uber have appealed it and until their appeal is resolved they're allowed to operate. It looks like they may seek to stay in appeal limbo as long as they can while trying to influence the decision - a good result for Uber lovers like me.

Yeah, same as Cryax - I haven't heard of anything else.
