[APPROVED/REVIEW] In Lieu of Conversations

Makes sense to have on-site instant messaging for a market that's reliant on it. Support, good suggestion.

 

After giving this a good read, I'll go ahead and bump this as a sign of support.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed since OP made the suggestion or is currently being worked on, but Sythe being a market, I don't see why we wouldn't want to ease the trade aspects. Now, I understand this would be considered as a major update and might very well be hard to implement, but if it's makeable, it should definitely become a thing.

If not well too bad, maybe next time.

Yeah sure, it would probably be the same as discord except with one channel and people would spam their trades in there.

 

I 100% support something like this, although I think even if the person edits it I think the first msg should still be
archived, also the all edits after it for that msg,(even if deleted) so even if someone edits the msg there would still
be cold hard proof if one of the people were trying to scam or gets scammed. I'm not sure how
hard/time consuming or even if this would be possible, though I think this would be a good system.
( I'm not sure if someone said this or something similar so sorry if I'm repeating what someone already said <3 )

 

Isn't this basically discord just attached to the website? I don't see a reason for yet another messaging channel

 

Discord is more so a public chat than a private one. Skype is still preferred over Discord for private messaging. Would rather have a system like this implemented than Skype still be used in high volume.

 

I offer support as well most of the reasons have already been stated.

 

If it's similar to Facebook Messenger then sure, I'd support it fully. As much as Discord is more convenient nowadays I still wouldn't mind seeing a Sythe feature of the like.

i'm not sure in what world it should be considered the normal practice; to find a trade onsite, then go offsite to conduct it.

I'd fully utilise the internal messaging systems more (other than just for a verification PM) if it had the facebook chat style messaging system. A simple pop up with an alert sound (which can be turned off) when someone contacts you and you can instantly respond.

I believe this would almost entirely remove imposter scamming; or at least for those who decide to utilise the new messaging system.

Multiple times i've received PMs and then an add on skype before i've even seem the PM saying "hey i just pmed you" - during that time the user could have added an imposter.

 

Sounds like this would make things a lot easier between the producer and consumer, definitely giving this a support, awesome idea!

 

This is a great idea however there is one issue.

The issue is that the Chatbox/Shoutbox you are proposing is in the do not suggest list:
The DO NOT SUGGEST list.

 

As far as I'm aware Chatbox/Shoutbox is the same thing.

 

Pretty sure OP meant a kind of chat system that would look like a "chat box", not the chat box itself that we all know of.

 

Still I'm not sure if this indirectly violates the DNS list.

 

yeah he's more requesting a more instant messaging system between individual users rather than a chat room related system.

O, on topic also.. No support. Discord is way better imo.

 

why go offsite to conduct a trade when it can be done onsite with the risk of imposter scams?
