    Linux Xubuntu help... :S

Hi, I'm trying to install Linux Xubuntu on my old computer (little brother). So I downloaded it, and burned it to a disc, and now after I select install/run at the menu all it does is load and go up to a screen with black borders and a giant gray area. It also has a little cursor icon too. Any idea what could be wrong? o.o

You have to let it wait. At that screen, it is loading all the files from the CD which you are running; it could take a while. From there, you will be logged in as a live cd user, and can use ubuntu as if you installed it; alternatively, you can select the install button from the desktop and install ubuntu.

Well, I still have a problem. After it does that, it goes to a completely black screen with nothing on it. So I let it sit for a couple of hours, and nothing still a black screen.

It isn't recognizing your video card so it can't load drivers. Try a different distro with more support: Ubuntu 7.04 works fine :)

That might be part of the issue, even the lowest version, xubuntu, the one you're using, only supports 256MB of ram and above.
