Why abstain from meat?

There are many reasons to refrain from meat, just to list off a few:

- Animal welfare (animals are treated very cruelly more often than not at slaughter houses)
- Health concerns(you have a lot higher risk of getting heart disease if you eat meat often)
- Environmental concerns (requires a lot of water to produce meat)
- Price (you can buy many other protein sources that are not meat for much cheaper)

 

I abstain from animal products due to the cruelty involved in their production. Meat itself is pretty self explanatory. Male chicks are ground up as wastage from egg production, and wastage calves are slaughtered for veal / beef cows etc. for dairy.

 

There is options to buying these products, i usually eat wild as we have a hunter where i live so we buy wild meat from him and that is an animal that lived a "happy" life untill instant death.

 

why foxes arent being sold, someone said that fox tastes well, but fox aint a herbivore maybe thats why. The meat we eat comes from animals that are herbivores, do you think that humans who are vegans taste good because they are herbivores?

 

A wild animal will probably have a happier/longer existence than one raised in a factory, but animals almost never die instantly when hunting. They usually bleed out over a minute or so, or suffocate.

There are yeah, and that's why I choose not to. Yeah, maybe, but you don't know that for definite. 'Living happy lives' is justification for people eating meat, and a way to make yourself feel better about your life choices. It may have been happy until someone came along and shot it. Regardless of the life lived, the animal is still killed/slaughtered against their will. That is not humane.

In my experience, they do taste better.

 

I don't know if you're responding to me or not, since you didn't quote anybody, but I do eat meat. I fully agree that cause intense animal suffering is morally wrong - I just don't care.

 

I could not go without bacon i really could not. Its like one of my five a day lol

ive not ate meat in about 3 years... i do miss the odd rib but dam man its cruel as hell what some of the animals go through

Lol. There are just as many "studies" out there saying eating only meat is better for you than going vegan. It's a "controversial" topic and will never be agreed upon by scientists. Maybe you yourself should do a Google search and you could find studies that say it's good to eat only meat. You can find ones that say its good to only eat fish, same with plants! There are even studies out there that say moderate alcohol consumption is beneficial. can you even google bro?

The fact that studies exist on a particular point of view doesn't prove that that point of view is correct. Studies can be poorly run. This is obvious.

Humans can easily survive on all-meat/vegan/omnivorous diets, etc. So, what do you mean?

 

I eat all meat. But I incorporate lots of fruit and veggies.

I eat beef that is “grass finished”. Typically “grass fed” is finished off with corn

 

You abstaining from meat will have no effect (if your motivation is helping animals), and since there will always be people that eat meat... Your only viable option would be to advocate for humane slaughter houses.

If it's not helping animals...
From a medical / health point of view there's very few benefits, however it does help you avoid fast food & other junk.food.

I don't understand why you think that less people purchasing meat would lead to a reduction in the production of meat.

 

Health benefits. It could help with some diseases/illnesses.

Personally, I'll probably never go vegetarian or vegan because it wouldn't make any sense for me to do so. I don't particularly care about "animal cruelty" either.

I do understand and respect people's choices with regards to abstaining from meat-related products in terms of diseases though.
