How do i change my IP address?

I recently was on TS with who i thought was a close friend, and he leaked my IP address
brother. His brother then went on to Ddos me for a max set and now won't even let me
enter the wild without ddosing me. PLEASE HELP.

Note: I have already tried turning the power off/on modem (i dont see a button to reboot it), and tried using the command prompt (ipconfig/renew)​

 

Ethernet cable straight into the wall ? I didnt know that was possible

You can still try to reset your ip manually


Google > whats my ip + remember it



Command promt > Type the following

ipconfig /renew

wait a second

then type

ipconfig /release


Then check your ip again on Google

 

when i type ipconfig/renew:

"the adapter failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation"

 

ouch how do you get internet without a router? must be a weird system? are you in a complex that has internet included each month?if so maybe ask the landlord if you can get it changed/reset the router

 

Well my apt complex only allows 1 internet service but you have to call them and set up everything (pay for it). They encourage you to have a router so its not like i can't get one i just haven't yet (we just moved in). The Ethernet net cable is plugged into the wall and a box. but it doesn't look like a modem, because its mostly for the tv.

Treat me like a 5 y/o when were talking about technology

 

Does that small box have any "reset" button? usually very small you have to press it with a pin

if that doesnt work then i dont know what else to suggest, unless you use a vps or proxy but thats no good for a long term fix

Call the internet company and ask them to help

 

I would but i owe them $200 for installation and first month lol.. don't really feel like
dealing with that right now. Hope someone has some knowledge about another method to manually change your ip.

 

Buy a new router. Try Craigslist if your money isn't right

 

Try talking to your ISP- Internet Service Provider and tell them the issue you are having.

 

You can contact your internet provider and they can help out.

 

I think you can call your internet service provider and they can sort you out, if they can't then i have no idea

 

Call your internet service provider and ask them to switch you to a new IP, or switch internet service providers and get a new IP automatically

 

I have already contacted the ISP. I spoke with them for two hours without any results.. They ran me through the same procedures i had previously tried.


Don't comment further unless you have an alternate method other then contacting my ISP.

 

Well I am sorry that your only options bother you so much, If there was a magic answer trust me we would all be happier giving it to you. As you said you tried the modem reboot, so it sounds like you have a static IP. This means it stays the same as long as you are with your ISP regardless if your modem is disconnected when it comes back on you still have that ip, if it was dynamic turning off the modem is what changes it to a new one, but that's not what you have. If you decide to call your ISP again and no one wants to handle your request, try talking to someone above the level 1 grunts that handle actual decisions regarding your account, anything can be done you just have to talk to the people that can actually do it.

Which is why I suggested changing to a new service provider, this would give you a new IP, and sometimes when you threaten to change to a new ISP your current one can meet some of your demands, such as price reduction and maybe even changing your IP. Of course every service provider has their own different rules and some may not be willing to change your IP manually every time you call them. So get a new service provider and don't allow anyone to have your IP next time.

Easiest way i've seen if applicable is to swap your modem out with your ISP.

 

use a vpn, the best to temp change your ip.
