How do you get someones IP...

Download MSN plus and download IPget 1.50 install it and then talk to the person you want to get the IP from and it should come up with a popup with the IP of the person.

Getting IPs from MSN no longer works. Same goes for any major instant messaging system, email addresses as well.

Just tell him to go to http://whatismyip.com/ and ask him to tell you the numbers (just say numbers) on the screen. If that doesn't work, set up your own script that secretly logs his IP address.

It only works when you make a direct connection, either through file transfer, or webcam. Everything else goes through the servers, masking the IP address as one of MSN's (or whatever you are using).

You fail to see the fact that this method is old and outdated, and a security risk. Why would a company as big as Microsoft let this get through the cracks? They wouldn't.

Before trying to prove me wrong, bring an argument with you.

What about try it before you start talking bullshit? Because everytime a contact starts a conversation with me it shows his IP you know why? because MSN protocol establishes a direct connection to transfer things such as Display Picture, etc. in the background.

Your IP address isn't sent when those things are gathered from a user account; all of that information is stored at the MSN servers, not on anyone's computers.

You're making a direct connection, that's how you're getting the IP address.

I never denied it didn't work. I'm denying the method, how it's used, how it works.

 

Just to confirm cp_'s point, you fail. The pictures, background etc don't establish a direct connection.

 

You don't need some fucking bullshit program. Anyone who knows how to tie their shoe lases could work out how to use command prompt (or even google for fucks sake). Cp_ is right, all conversation in transfered through Microsoft servers.

If you need help getting an IP from someone, I seriously doubt you lack the skills to do any serious damage.

Verbal abuse, you say? Point it out

Simple use of "curse" words doesn't automatically mean it's a verbal abuse. Read the whole post, think a bit, then see your mistake.

I suggest you do a whois and see who the IP belongs to

(BTW, 700th post)
