    Explain DNT to me

Wasnt sure were to post this, here or in RaS section but just posting it here for you guys' opinions.

So Joshua just posted this in the Discord:

The above shows Joshua (a DNT user) contacting Chloe in an attempt to make a trade and then Chloe saying its fine because it can happen off-site.

Now, lets look at the DNT rules:

Pay attention to the sentence saying "If a DNT user attempts to trade with you, you should report the user".

First of all, the above doesnt state anything about on-site or off-site trading, it just states that whenever a DNT user attempts to trade with you, you should report the user. Second of all, if it did make an exception for off-site trading, what would be the limit? As can be seen it is pretty obvious Chloe and Joshua know eachother from Sythe, does taking it to Chloe's website then make it really 'off-site'? To me thats as off-site as a DNT user contacting me and saying "Heey want to buy RSGP? As long as we do it over Skype it is off-site so its fine".

So what do you guys think. Am I just getting it wrong and if so, why?

My take on this is that on Sythe you can't trade with DNT users for obvious reasons, but firstly on offsite trades that's out of Sythe's control, and how would you even be able to track that? I guarantee tons of users that are DNTed, or banned on Sythe sell, or buy their gold from reputable websites as it doesn't interfere with Sythe. I understand where you're coming from to an extent, but that's just my opinion on the matter.

What would be the limit though. No one conducts their trade on Sythe really. They get to know eachother on Sythe, true, and then conduct the trade using Skype or Discord. Allowing Chloe to use her site and calling it "off-site" is the same as Skype and Discord in that regard. With this in mind the DNT is useless.

Surely the rule should apply within the Sythe discord? Other's maybe not.

I've always seen DNT as a rubbish thing. Do Not Trade doesn't stop anyone from trading and as I said in @Dunworry's suggestion, the rank should only be implied to those who have suspicious activity on them I.E. "Being hacked".

This trading between @Chloe and @JoshuaG may have in fact been a bait. I remember in my early days of actually baiting people I was managing to catch a few dozen ban evaders/scammers and our fellow carrot @Wortel just ended up banning them. Baiting DNT users isn't against the rules HOWEVER we cannot actually tell if this was a legitimate transaction or not.

In my opinion, I feel that the whole DNT rank shouldn't be called Do Not Trade. It should be called "Restricted". It isn't stopping anyone from doing any trading and in most cases the user ends up being banned and can end up doing trading whilst banned so it doesn't even matter.

Finally, the way that this is conceived is completely misguided by @Sythe himself. What needs to be mentioned is DNT + Tweeting. What I mean by this is, currently there is a permanent ban. If a user pardons and is successfully pardoned back into the community, should they then be held responsible for the ban. This is a grey area and I think the only people who can give their stance on the situation are the knowledgeable @video and big rich himself.

100s of people come into my livechat everyday, and I'm sure some of them have DNT, and I'm sure they've sold to me. Also Richard has said before (if I really need to I'll find it) that selling to a gold site off-site has nothing to do with Sythe.

If someone contacts me on a platform where I do business (discord) and asks to sell me gold at the price I need in order to fill my orders I'm not going to turn them down.

If Josh had gone into Bogla under the name JoshuaG and offered them gold at the price they were offering they wouldn't think twice about it.
