The way that bug worked was that if you were kicked out of the house while in the arena, the server would still register that you were still in the arena, as you did not exit the arena.

And while in the Arena you could attack people, so being in the outside world you could attack everyone else, but they couldn't retaliate because they weren't registered as being in the Arena...
