What is this? Is this basically VB.NET 2005. I'm just starting to get into programming and I am deciding what language i should learn. I came across this and was wondering if anyone uses this and what it is?

ok it is the most basic in my opinion language to learn if your new to programming, it depends though, r you going to a hardcore programmer or just and average cause this is very very easy compare to c++, c# and c. yes it is vb.net 2005 and 1 problem is that the user of the program that you make needs .net framework v3.5. when you download the program you get it sso you dont need to worry though the ppl that you give the program to needs .net framework witch most everyday users dont have.

    hope this helped a lil

vb2008 is the same as 2005 its just upgraded. VB is designed for beginner coders because it is set out more 'well'. You can stil make real good programs. C# is next version up and then C++, i tried having a go at C++ and it was the hardest thing that i will do in my life :p. At the moment im using ASP.net. You can use C (vb) C# on it.

I'd go with vb6. It doesn't require .Net, so chances are your program will run a little faster. Not only that, but it will be easier to redistribute your programs. Just google for vb6 torrent

no don't do vb6, it is old, and outdated. Microsoft definitely doesn't support it anymore, and i am surprised that it works on windows vista if it does.

I've used both, and I prefer .NET, but most people prefer VB6. If you want to use .NET, and 2008 didn't work for you, try 2005.
