recently reconnected with my half sister after 22 years of no contact. She lives near alvin texas and theyre getting cranked. She took a pic of a 24 case of water priced @ 22 dollars.

 

Yeah they've cleared grocery stores out they look like they had a clearance sale... a lot of stocking and cleaning has to go on. It was so weird because I saw boxes and boxes of OJ and tons of OJ in stock because they just restocked OJ. Some people are gonna be living off OJ for a while .

Keep in mind, this is like 200 miles away from the coast where things are selling out. Freezer items and everything.

I lived in Texas just south of Houston for 6 years. I know damn well how easily that state flash floods with their rainy season. I also know this will be one of the biggest floods Texas has ever seen. I expect damages everywhere with the unreal amount of fresh water you've received. You were already hit by 2 foot of water before the storm was even 3 days away. Texas is fucked.

 

This is one of the very many reasons why Texas sucks. Sometimes bigger isn't always better, never been a fan

 

You lived in the bottom lands. Most of Texas is well above sea level, Houston and it's surrounding areas are the states armpit at best.

 

Yeah I'm aware but it gets weird out west.. oh and fuck the giant horse flies..

 

It gets weird out east too, honestly the state is pretty wild. It's the most diverse state in the country land wise and the people seem to vary as much as the land does. Our state capitol is one of the most liberal cities in the country but we're a red state.

80% or more of Texas will be fine, but coastal areas are going to get hammered. The real BS will be all the refugees from other states, I was in school when Katrina happened. My town received thousands of (angry and bitter) refugees who did nothing but stir shit up and receive handouts, the crime rate in the area jumped nearly 15% overnight and most of them didn't ever leave.

 

It's okay you can call them niggers. It's the trash New Orleans left behind... I know Houston ate up 30-60k of them.

 

As for the rain, it is nothing but pretty much typical rainy day weather right now. Flash flooding is a thing, but that's almost exclusively in country roads. Sounds like Hattez was in the country Area like in Victoria or something like that. Rain and even wind are a usual in Texas. Seems like people calmed down though, but I'm shocked that people 200 miles away were buying stuff out.

Some never left. So much this though. Katrina people.. I remember them. Ugh. Houston already is sketchy, but I can only imagine how many people they received. Even Dallas.

10's of thousands in Dallas and its surrounding suburbs, it sucked. Felt like a lot more being in school though because we literally received bus loads.

I grew up right outside of the houston area. Flash flooding was common with heavy rainfall. It didnt even take hurricanes to flood my old neighborhood out.

 

Eh I'm far away from it all. It may as well be just normal rainy season right now except with stronger winds, but strong rinds are also normal during the rainy seasons.

Well shoot TIL. Houston is super close to the water, but I didn't think H-town would be that susceptible to flooding. The only time I saw a flooded residential area was when someone opened up a dam for some reason...
