In America, is it wrong to be punished for disagreeing?

  1. Yes, it is very wrong. America needs to be united and that won't happen with so much disagreeing.

  2. No, it is not wrong at all! America would not be America if people didn't disagree on things!

In America, we agree to disagree! True or False?

I was watching the news the other day. A female was just in the chest four times by a man because she didn't agree with his views on some political subject.

    So now I must ask.

In America, do we agree to disagree?

In your opinion, is the "norm" of America saying that if I disagree with someone, it's right? Or is the "norm" of America saying that if I disagree with someone, someone illegal, unjust, and painful won't happen to me?

Do people today always NEED to get their way and always NEED to have EVERYONE on their side, or else?

Why do things like this happen? Why is disagreeing so wrong in the United States we call our home?

Ask questions, use your brain, discuss.

    It could be worse.

We could be governed under sharia law.

Stop bitching about how America is messed up. America is a great place to live and people should be allowed to disagree whenever the hell they want. People here on Sythe do it all the time. It would be bring if nobody disagreed.

If you can't look at something from all points of view, then you can't look at it right. We need lunatics ranging from Ron Paul to John Edwards. It makes sure people dot their i's and cross their t's. Without fear of retribution (take the IRS), whats to keep people motivated/in check?

Knowing that if you're a public figure and you hire a prostitute everyone will know at the speed of sound does.

    Nope.
It's the "norm" of America to say that if I disagree with someone, something illegal, unjust, and painful won't happen to me.
Disagreeing with someone isn't right, that's just silly.
    Disagreeing isn't wrong.
You must explain why debating and/or questioning people's opinions is wrong.
The only thing confusing here is your nonsense.
He merely stated that is it wrong to be punished for disagreeing, but disagreement is essential to the country.
Because the last sentence of each poll option doesn't make much sense with the previous sentence:
The first option essentially says "Yes, it's wrong. We need to not disagree."
If we need to get rid of disagreement, wouldn't punishing it be better than not?

Thanks, Cruel. Destroy my point making, why don't you ..
    Ugghh ..

Anyways, I'm only trying to get peoples opinions .. Not spread my own. If disagreeing with someone may be lets say punishable by law, why does the law not punish those who defeat the purpose of "being able to disagree without consequence" ?
