Changelly.com scam [Bad review]

Hey everyone,

Wanted to share my experience with changelly.com.

I went to trade BCC for BTC in their site.

I wanted to trade 0.045 BCC and their estimated was 0.0077 BTC.

Just minutes before my BCC to them was confirmed, estimated was still around that.

What did I receive? 0.0065~ BTC

0.001 BTC fee?! WTF.

Worse is that just after my transaction happened, their website showed a good rate:

They are not honest about their fee. Nor their estimated amounts.

DO NOT USE THEM.

Dang man, I wish you would have asked about them prior to doing the conversion. I could have told you that Changelly is notorious for there STUPID high fees that just make it impossible to actually do any business on them. It is ridiculous how much they charge to swap over cryptos.. Outright highway robbery if you ask me!

Glad you found out on a small amount though instead of a big transaction!

 

10-20% is pretty standard in the crypto world when doing currency exchanges.

Coinbase charges 7% they just don't tell you about it.

They use a UK merchant account which for anyone outside the UK unless ur card has no foreign transactions fees(most don't) there's a silent 3% fee applied on the transaction by ur bank. On top of the 3.99% for card they charge + the $0.10 or whatever its basically 7-7.5% when using card. Even with bank its 2-4%.

That $100 of btc u bought with debit a week ago and thought u were paying $104 for? Yeah you better check ur bank statement and see if u see like "coinbase $107.49" or some shit, the fee is silent and unless u audit ur statements you wont even realize the 3% foreign transaction fee is being applied.

Even through the most legitimate places though(coinbase) you are paying 3% minimum and 7% for card, 10-20% isn't outrages IMO although I'm sorry they didn't clearly inform you about it.

 

I feel that this is expected. In such transactions: visa/mc, the country cards network, the receiving bank and the sender bank apply a fee. But when they say I'm going to receive X I expect X, not 0.84x. That's what really bothered me :/

This was my first experience using an automated exchanger (Only know of changelly and shapeshift). Maybe next time I'll use Shapeshift, they seem to actually be honest about their estimated amounts and show the miner fee, etc.
