[DENIED] Rule Reform

Currently if an individual is banned or not a member of Sythe, it is perfectly fine to do a fair amount of damage to them, both financially and personally. It is not against the rules to do numerous things to individuals who are banned, or not a member of Sythe such as doxing and tweeting their runescape accounts at Jagex. I'm sure there are other things we're currently given a free pass to do, however these are the two most common that come to mind.

I shouldn't have to explain why this is highly unethical. The only counter argument I can see that holds some ground is that by releasing the personal information of a scammer, it can help prevent them ban evading and scamming once again. This is a fair point, however I feel it is above and beyond our duty to find their personal information and leak it. Banned member or not, I don't feel as if it's okay to be able to leak IRL information of a person for any reason.

I spoke to a few people about this, and the general consensus was agreement. However, I'd like to get some more feedback on this, and possibly change the rules.

TLDR: Make it against the rules to leak information/dox/tweet/whatever else of individuals who are banned or not a member of Sythe

 

If a user was banned for Doxxing or scamming with no intention of paying back then I think it should be okay for them to be Doxxed. People should be respected as long as they follow the rules. I don't think Sythe as a site has the ability to completely monitor what people do offsite. If someone is going to dox someone or tweet their accounts to jagex, they could do it anonymously.

 

An eye for an eye renders the entire world blind. With the maturity level of some people on this website, you know this would end up with SWAT teams and infinite pizza at somebody's door eventually.

I think with this rule in place it'd help prevent a situation like that, or at the very least, give individuals their privacy.

 

People are still going to do things regardless of what the rules say. It's not Sythe's place to regulate what people are doing off the site.

 

Just because some people are going to do things regardless, doesn't mean we shouldn't take some steps to prevent it.

Banned or not, scammer or not, we are all humans after all and leaking personal informations without consent of a said person should not be a thing.

We are responsible of our own actions when we are online. Break a rule, get punished, that's common sense, but I don't think someone should have to face another consequence besides the initial one, even if it's deserved.

Support. It doesn't sit well with me that we condone these actions against users who are not currently a member of the Sythe community. It's considered abhorrent to dox a Sythe user, but if they're banned the next day for scamming 5m 07, it's suddenly perfectly acceptable? This needs to be changed.

I definitely agree. Some little faggot kid scams 5m from another lil faggot kid and then gets his life ruined by doxing and other shit? I'm not down for that.

My dear friend @Milotic this would require sythe staff and faculty members of the round table to cease reaping all the benefits they get from using the abilities of said doxers/tweeters/scumbags etc. for their own advantages and purposes in vain attempts to clear their consciences.

Therefore, I vote that Milotic's suggestion be put into place except that the rule will not apply to sythe staff. This will mean that when someone pisses off a staff member they can just hire a scumbag to swat that person which will in turn make any given staff member completely innocent and still super cool.

 

Absolutely not, there is just simply no way me or any Sythe.org officer would allow this. I was given the right to dox, RAT and TWEET any member banned/not a member of Sythe a few months back and I see no reason to make exceptions. No support from me, try again in 6 months.

 

No support, i've seen a lot of cases where scammers eventually paid their victims back after being doxed, it would just make scamming more safe. Scammers need to know that they will be held accountable for what they do

 

You were begging people to give you loans and sell you gold via PayPal after you'd just been banned on Sythe. It looked like a very real attempt to scam quit. You know exactly why that happened. Just be glad it was only your RSNs, this is not the place to discuss that event though.

I can only think of one case where this has happened, and it wasn't a Sythe related incident. I feel like you've ignored the rest of the post though. Are you saying it's okay to dox people who aren't members of Sythe as well?

 

It's not okay if that person hasn't done anything bad, and as for scammers they can be burned alive i wouldn't care less

 

Was a bit hesitant at first but have decided to support this. As much as I like the idea of getting back at people, it's only inevitable that the people getting doxed etc. will hit back eventually. All it takes is one case to snowball too far and it could lead to a load of shit for both parties concerned. No idea how you thought of this idea tbh, you're nothing short of a genius, Milotic. I asked for a loan a while before I was banned, wanted to make an investment. I got the gold eventually, with a loan, and low and behold, it pulled off and I paid the donor back generously.

I was looking to buy gold via PayPal, also well before I got banned, but please do continue your shit talk and widely incorrect accusations.
