ok, well; meat is being farmed like fish now; [eople have these nasty chicken coups that are filled with millions of inbred chickens etc. Nobody gives a shiet they just love eating this tasty & yummy food. who cares? we die, we eat, we live. I am not saying meat his disgusting, it is really good but is it that good that we just eat it like disgusting pigs.

nobody cares, cheap meat is all they see and god heavens. the properly farmed meat costs more but someone will pay for it.

This probably doesn't help, but I'm a vegetarian because I am allergic to meat.

I'll never understand the whole meat is murder debate. People oppose the idea of it because you're killing a living thing to eat.

Murder by definition is premeditated killing of another person - animals are not people. So that slogan has been debunked already. Let's give it a broader definition though for sake of argument, and extend it to premeditated killing of another living thing.

So what do these people propose you eat instead? Plants! They are living organisms too though, so what is the difference?

One could argue consciousness plays into it. Yes it isn't pleasant to think that a conscious mind may suffer in order to make my burrito, but it's minimal.

Literally EVERYTHING we can eat is at some point processed by another living thing, so the fact veganism is even a thing is a bit of a joke to me.

Sure by all means don't eat a food if you don't enjoy it, or are allergic. To refuse to eat a food based on where it came from? I think that's just silly.

No, that's what the law states it is. Laws can be changed.

The difference, if you did one (1) online search into why people don't eat meat, is that animals suffer. Plants don't.

Minimal? Why do you think that? Do you know a lot about animal brains, and how conscious they are?

It's a bit of a joke to me that you think that the argument rests on what living thing processes another. Typically, veganism rests on reducing suffering in animals that obviously experience suffering, reducing the impact on the environment, and for health reasons. Again, one online search.

I wouldn't eat plants grown in a region with toxic soil, and I wouldn't eat a dead human being. Why is it silly to refuse food based on where it came from?

I am currently eating chicken and rice in most of my meals. I would like to cut back as I know chicken has a lot of steroids and other shit injected into them.

I personally don't see a problem with eating meat but I can see how people can see that killing animals (killing anything for that matter) is a problem and that it can also be seen as "barbaric". That being said, it's something that us civilized human beings have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years and therefore it has become evolutionary and it has been necessary for survival so that's why most people don't have a problem with it

No, most people don't have a problem with it because they either don't know what animals go through, or they just don't care. Humans are perfectly capable of thriving on a 100% vegetarian diet.

And I say this as somebody whose diet is ~70% meat. It's one (1) Google search away.

Whey is not a meal replacement. Do not listen to this guy, he clearly knows nothing about proper diet.

    Why abstain from meat?

A lot of people do it for religious reasons and health reasons. For me, personally, I can get 150g+ protein without eating meat through whey, eggs, soy, oats etc. So I never bother. If I do eat meat, it is purely grilled chicken or wings occasionally.

I can't tell if you're actually being serious using this as an argument.

    Plants are not sentient.

The utter stupidity of your entire post is something to behold.

    Why abstain from meat?

Mostly environmental concerns and protest of the fucked up manufacturing system.

Personally I eat about a pound of meat a day and feel sorta bad about it but not bad enough to be vegetarian.

    Why abstain from meat?

I've felt worse over the past year for it, but the reality is me stopping alone won't stop it from going on the shelf so I do partake.

    Why abstain from meat?

I think foods, in-general, are terrible in the United States. I don't think it's just a meat problem. Overall, food processing in America has become so disgusting and toxic for greater production and a greater generation in profits for the food industry. Observe many nations across Europe who eat a regularly balanced omnivorous diet in comparison to an American who eats a regularly balanced omnivorous diet, there's many differences and I feel this pertains to the way us Americans produce our food. People state there's many various chemicals and carcinogens in meat, but who's to say the same isn't in vegetables? Vegetation production has experienced the same style of production as meats, from pesticides to growth hormones in the United States.

Whose to say not eating meat is the correct way to go about a diet? As any other species in the world we adapt to our environment and our surroundings.
