    Bots with communication AI

Lots of bots can be simply "detected" if it doesn't speak anything, when talked to. It's pretty common to ask fellow skillers about their skill level. Or make simple small-talk. Especially in Draynor, where there are tons of people wc-ing and fishing.
Anyways, I was just thinking about ways to seem more human-like and to me the communication is really big part of it. Most likely Jagex also keeps an eye on that.

So I started Google-ing and found some communication AI Bots that can be configured to have a simple conversation with fellow players. E.x. when my user name is used in a sentence, I can then start a little conversation or answer their question. Also, different triggers and synonyms etc can be made/ used.

It's nothing new, but no one has yet to implement such a bot add-on.

    Dear botters, few questions:
    • Is it possible to find out if players are around me?
    • Can I make sure they are in a same room? How?
    • Possible to get their names? Levels, etc?
    • Text written?

bots replying to chats or not doesn't matter in my opinion. as alot of legit players doesnt like chatting either (including me). but thats just my opinion.

To answer your questions, yes to all. But it depends on the API of the client you're using. im pretty sure osbot and tribot supports those.

Not answering may trigger somebody and you getting a report - unwanted attention. Yes, if you play legitimately you have nothing to worry about, even if people report you

I agree, I've been using a hunter bot and people hop worlds so often that if you don't babysit and reply, you are sure to get reported.

All of this can be done but you would have to use Reflection to grab the info from the client and then process it

I'm very much interested of developing a reflection bot. I just don't know how to even start. All the tutorials I've seen are incomplete, showing just some fractions of it.
I also want to develop gambling bot, but this needs reflection as well. I do know how to use reflection, I just don't know how to get client's classes.. . Or how does that process look like?
As I understand it: get running clients classes, and just get info through reflection from them.

You can try using simba there are lots of snippets and guides you can follow and learn from. Other choices are Tribot and Osbot prolly less resources tho.

I'm actually interested in writing my own little reflection bot. Jagex can easily detect the big guys - they have said it themselves. I don't want to invest my time in that. Also, making something my own gives me wider customizability options.

@Fast Coins, well then you should definitely use Simba, the site is Villavu.com and they are an open source bot. Easy to learn the reflection. I was going to learn the same myself but procrastination kicked my ass..

I feel ya, it just happens sometimes.. quite often... most of the time :p

Simba does look interesting, thanks for the recommendation. But the thing is, I'd rather write something in a language I already love and know - Java. Any references on how can I get started with using reflection on OSRS using Java?
note: I don't need reflection tutorials, I know how to use it.

edit: sry, getting off topic. I should make a separate thread

@Fast Coins If you plan on using Java you will have to use TriBot or Osbot or any other client where you can put your privately compiled script in the repository. Limited for Java :(

@Cocktail I don't want to use any botting clients, though. I want to use reflection on my own, in my own project.
Why the sad face? Not a big Java fan? :p
