Try connecting again, make sure your firewall isnt blocking mIRC or access to port 6667.

Also:
Well, are you trying to connect through a Proxy/Socks(4 or 5).
If you are. your proxy or Socks might not be working.

 

My firewall isn't blocking anything, although Vista tries to put it up once in a while.

I tried the proxy option, and socks 4 and 5.

My socks are working, though. I checked them this morning, they're still warm and fuzzy.

 

nothing should be preventing you from connecting unless you are locally redirecting irc.sythe.org to somewhere else (ie with the windows hosts file)

ping irc.sythe.org from command and see if it matches this ip: 72.20.17.134

in the mean time, /server 72.20.17.134

 

I pinged irc.sythe.org, and got the correct IP. I also tried /server 72.20.17.134, but got the same "connection refused" message.

 

Connect on a different port

/server irc.sythe.org:6661[-6669]
