here is the paragraph that is confusing me (below)

The new, forking coin, Bitcoin Cash, will launch as a so-called User Activated Hard Fork (UAHF) – in reality; a Miner Activated Hard Fork. All Bitcoin (BTC) holders will receive an amount in Bitcoin cash equivalent their Bitcoin holdings.


what does the paragraph posted above mean, does it mean whatever amount of btc you have you will receive an equivalent amount of bitcoin cash? and if so how does this work because coinbase says they will not deal with bitcoin cash, so im confused.

 

someone just told me 'You won't receive any BCC if you don't know your private key' so i guess some of us are screwed,

 

If you hold your Bitcoin in coinbase you won't recieve Bitcoin cash. However if you have a private wallet where you hold your own key you will. Some exchanges have confirmed they will release Bitcoin cash to those holding Bitcoin at the time of the fork, e.g. Kraken and bittrex. But since coinbase delay sending BTC for like a day currently if you hold in coinbase currently I think you won't recieve your BCC

 

so i have a question, if coinbase is not giving its customers who own bitcoin their bitcoin cash , are they keeping it?
