Taking into consideration they play AAA Games.
They always clean there pc with good preventative maintenance.
The PC was never Overclocked or not overly modified.

I know it would be hard to say I just bought my PC this year and i want to know the life span.

Well i would give a 1070/1080 high end build to last around 5+ years.

But that's just my humble prediction. i could be entirely wrong as no one knows what the future holds.

I agree with 5+ years. It's incredibly hard to estimate the lifespan of any piece of technology though.

you see that many old desktops are still running fine today, it should be the same, if not better for the new computer parts that come out today. They're built with more technology and parts to withstand a ton of things. That is, if you don't do anything too extensive that will actually KILL your system, e.g. mining. Overall, newer computers that were built recently should have quite the life spand, i'd say 10 years give or take.

then again u could kill ur whole computer in 2 weeks if ur psu sparks lol

I mean I built a moderately powered pc back in 2014 and it's already been 3 years and it's showing zero signs of slowing down. So they have pretty damn good life spans I'd say. 5 years does sound like a good plan, you'll probably want to upgrade by then anyway. But it should easily be able to last 10 years if you take care of it. My gateway from 2003 I still use sometimes for OSRS.

With the current hardware coming out this past year, I'd say a high end PC will last easily 4-5 years before needing an upgrade.

I built mine back in early 2014 and I've only recently upgraded the GPU, but that was by choice, not necessarily because I HAD too.

As everyone else said, about 5 years is a good estimate based off how things have played out over the last decade. In terms of gaming, I'd say at the 5 year point you'd likely be able to upgrade just the graphics card, and everything else still keep up just fine. Look back at the i7 2600k, still a great cpu that plenty of people are still using today. CPUs don't advance nearly as much per generation as GPUs.

reading google, they say that the first thing to wear or die out will be the gpu. So I give it 3-5 years depending on the following factors: cooling and usage. if u crank it out at max, it will mean more voltage and with that a higher rate of 'shorting out'. Gpu's can get very hot (etremely on a laptop) and u will need to monitor the heat and apply cooling (thermal past e or wter the f they call it I dunno) as needed to avoid any 'unwanted' damage to the components that the higher heat can attract.

I would say over 5 years too.
It's hard to say exactly because it also depends on a lot of other stuff too but most computers last a good 2-4 yrs before becoming just really slow and kinda dying off (most people do not take time to clean their computer.)

Just take care of your computer like it's a baby and it will likely last you long enough that if you have a part time job you will have made over 10 times the price of your old computer.

My brother bought an i7 alienware from their main website five or so years ago and it's still running great. 5-10 years is my estimation based on that alone
