Staff: Be more cautious about Scam Reports.

"Scam quits" were always frequent.

It's not fair to single out one report based on the outcome. There are many users who ban evade, get away with it, and scam again. If staff start banning users based off speculation and not concrete evidence, it will create more problems.

 

You are someone who takes advantages of the system. You have been here since 2007 so you've been gathering information on how to do so. You're basically saying for every scam quit that happens which isn't banned sooner its automatically a staff mistake. You've got no logic whatsoever.

 

You're better off asking Richard directly for something like this.

 

Applying DNT shouldn't be a punishment, it's a restriction and doesn't state they are guilty just a protection method. So why not just apply the DNT incase.

 

@Seraphic Child how many times were you dropped on your head? Clearly not even close to what I am saying but you honestly seem to be one of those people that attempt to twist words in order to make you feel better about yourself. One of the people without common sense enough to know mistakes happen. If they had multiple people look at it and they felt that there wasn't enough evidence. That is their decision to make not yours.

 

And how would I do that?

I'm not going to continue responding to you since you are flaming and you've got no good suggestions to make.

You are saying that everyone makes mistakes which is what I agree with. You cannot say however that every scam quit that could have been prevented sooner but wasn't is not a mistake.

If you were a staff member and you were paid to ban someone, that is your decision. That doesn't make it the right decision. To make the decision is one thing but to make the right decision is another.

As for the evidence, you show me how much evidence I should include in one report. If you can show me that then if you get staff before you get banned I'll be sure to send you a 200 page book for every ban evader and why they should bee banned.

Maybe that will be better. You can continue flaming but if you're not going to be civilised then maybe the spam forum is the best place for you.

 

We could have yeah and I agree with the restriction. But Mootrucks was more sure than not that there wasn't enough evidence to go forward with his decision. Now if there were more questionable elements to the report, then a TWC or DNT may have been applied.

In that case could there not have been a vote between the globals/admins. Did any admins other than Tmoe read the report?

 

Its not an attempt I am a dignified person. As for suggestions I had right now goes with the VPN restrictions. We will wait on what @Sythe has to say about this.

 

We could have a vote to apply TWC and DNT but every staff member has the right to apply those if they feel it's necessary.

 

Situations like this annoy the hell out of me. Why? Because hindsight is an amazing gift.

The report was handled fine with all the information available. We cannot ban off pure coincidental information. Staff handle hundreds - if not thousands - of reports a month and you don't hear anything about the numerous cases of staff being proactive to prevent a possible scam quit.

Users fall through the cracks, but I can assure you we take reports seriously; however, that doesn't mean we can just ban off coincidental evidence.

So, consider this retroactively accepted.
