Do you use function keys? How? [poll]

Hey guys!
So I am developing an autoswitcher (xSwitcher - The New Autoswitcher [multi client] + download) and would like to know more on how people use their function keys.

Why would I need to know that?
For example, there is a shortcut to auto-special attack, from any tab. That means, when the user is not on combat tab, press F#(a number) to get to combat tab first and then click on special attack bar.
Right now I'm telling the user to use F2 as inventory tab, F5 as combat tab, etc.
So that means, user has to re-configure their bindings, and get used to new ones. Then again, it's easy for me to program.

I could make an .ini file which will store the key-bindings, but will mean more work for me.

So that's why I need to know, so I won't waste hours developing a configuration file system, when people don't even care about their function key bindings.

Why don't you make it so the user can select which keys perform which action? Anyone who is even slightly good at the game will use F Keys when doing PVM/PVP

 

@RS4Me Thank you for your input.
Right now, the values are hard-coded into the program. So users have no choice other than change their F-keys in game (if they dont match). For me it required no extra (dev) time.
But as I have asked people, most of them use F-keys, so that would be uncomfortable for them to change said bindings, and re-learn their position.
Yes, I would probably make an .ini file that a user can input their preferred keys into:

This would probably be the quickest way, so I don't loose much time.

 

Definitely sounds like the best idea, more customisation for easy use = more subscriptions at the end of the day

I agree. Thanks, man! 9 Downloads so far, though But I will still keep going and developing it, I truly believe it can be something really useful. This isn't merely an autoswitcher no more - becoming more like a pking/ pvming-suite. Tons of ideas!

Interesting setup! I placed my hand over those keys and tried to think myself into pking situation. Jesus Christ, aren't your hands hurting, lol? Such a weird placement for me. To think about it - all F-keys are weird to access on one row like that...

So yeah, it seems I do have to make the .ini file happen. Different people use different setups and discriminating them wouldn't be nice.
