The cops were definitely out of line. That happened in a town next to me.

There are extreme examples on both ends. Skateboarding is a hobby, it's rediculous that people even pair it with crime/bad actions/anything other than a hobby. There are many great examples of Police actions, I'm sure you know of at least one or two. It's not much of a discussion with this topic... I mean anyone can pull one example out of many which obviously leans in one way.

Yeah, it's kinda like any other job. You can give examples why the worker is bad or good.

In this case, the police were extremely out of line.

The skaters started it, but the cop did more damage. It gets irritating for cops to keep annoying fag skaters off the property, so this cop was probably showing that he means buisness.

wwwwwweeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllll i mean they were both out of line, the cops were just doing there job and the skaters should obey but still they were using unnecessary force but certain skateboarding can be very stubborn

most skaters are stubborn yes but thats because they probably grew up in a town where skating was considered "bad" the whole thing that started it was that the cops asked the skaters to stop and it was against city ordinance to skate down a fucking road.

its their own fault, they know how police is in the USA.
and if you dont do anything they cant punish you.
and never try to run from them! (if you have nothing to hide)

I skate and i HATE cops,
we skate for the love it and not a crime of any kind.
Cops shouldnt even be going to spots to kick kids out,
shouldnt they be doing other things that are more important?

    ^ Agreed.

"Go Skateboarding Day" is not a state/national recognized holiday, thats no excuse for skating where they shouldn't. Skateboarders can't skate down the sidewalk for the same reason people can't ride motorcycles in malls... Its dangerous to other people. I'm sure you'd be pissed as hell if some guy nearly ran you over as he flew by on a bike in the grocery store. Same difference.

Not to mention.. This hardly qualifies as an intelligent topic.

Doesn't matter if it's reasonable or not, it's against regulations. People shouldn't be able to ride skateboards on sidewalks. They should use the bike lane... although I know that's usually less than a smooth ride lol.

And for all the people who say the cops used too much force: explain.
I didn't see any excessive force. The kids were running away from the cops and being defiant. For instance, he asked the one girl to sit down three times and she said no all three times... then she started running, so he ran after her and grabbed her. And while she was struggling one of the other skaters got close and tried to get involved... then he grabbed him. That's when he had a straggle hold on both of them. AND THEY WERE BOTH STILL STRUGGLING AND RESISTING.
And please note that they did NOT get arrested for skateboarding.
