Runescape MOBILE has arrived! (Discussion Thread)

Jagex just announced they will be bringing a Mobile app of both versions of Runescape to Android and Apple stores. The release date is expected to be around the end of this year.

Personally I think this is a win for everyone, it will bring in new users and customers to the Runescape scene which should improve the economy over-all. Plus current users game time should increase as they can now access Runescape when not at a PC.

EDIT: I've only dabbled in the botting community but do any experts know if this will give botters any more opportunities on the Mobile/Tablet side of things?

 

I don't know if I'm just being thick but how on earth could you play rs on a phone ? Yes the botting companies may find a way to take advantage in the early days .

I agree with the above statement, I don't see bot makers doing much with the mobile....but who knows, maybe someone can figure something out to benefit the masses. I don't personally see how its going to be realistic to do anything really strenuous on a small mobile screen besides things like the GE..

 

Funny as hell I was just complaining about this two months ago and here we are. Can't wait!

I always thought of "Rs on mobile" as a meme and a stupid idea like "how the fuck would that work" and now that they are actually doing it, i'm kinda questioning myself.

Looking foward to see how this ends up working. I'll for sure be purchasing a big ass power bank and be playing everywhere I go Cx

I've never really thought of Runescape as a game that would work very well on mobile either, except maybe for doing things like updating GE offers. Probably won't be using it when it comes out, but if it brings more players to the game that's great.

 

Sounds like a good update, may bring some new players.

 

I don't think just may, I think it will for sure. All these little kids nowadays only use iPads and iPhones.

Yeah I don't think people will be doing very click intensive activities, I don't think Jagex expects the app to be extremely functional like that either.

I'm pretty confident it will. Hopefully everyone downloads the shit out of it so it gets high on the app store charts.

I think it'll be tough but probably still do-able, I think it's going to be better for stuff that are more AFK.

 

this will make using autotouch (tap recorder?) a lot easier and less laggy on my jb iphone so it wont mess up as much when i use java cloud browsers, thats as far as i guess cheating would go on mobile but you never know, doubt a bot would be developed

 

ull need a tablet to play or do anything rs related, like wtf I can barely text using my iPhone how the f I'm gonna play rs lmao

 

So if you use auto tapper/recorder in Nightmare zone i wonder if they can detect that and ban you?

 

I've tried to make osrs accessible on my phone and tablet before via splashtop and programs alike. Unfortunately the performance was a real let down.

Hopefully the app runs smoothly, I fully support although it may/will remove a social aspect of the game that we all know and love
