Is it true that there is 12% chance for the "end of the world" to happen in 10 years?

As in another solar storm happening that would shut down all electricity

But humans have been around this long, up until this moment... I don't know whats going to happen 10 seconds from now, but, we are still alive.

 

Where did you hear that? I did some Googling and found nothing.

Besides, even if it did happen, we could rebuild. It wouldn't mean the end of mankind using electricity.

EDIT: I found the 12% figure you mentioned, but it's worth keeping in mind that that's based on one physicists calculation. Don't take it as Gospel truth.

 

They've been saying a natural disaster is imminent since people knew what natural disasters were. Live you're life. If you die, you die. Not like you were gonna prevent a solar flare anyway.

 

Did you know that humans have only been recording information for 6,000 years because that's when writing was invented? Think of how big the gap was of information not being recorded, plus the existence of humans on Earth. If the world ended, it would have long ago.

 

Most likely another conspiracy.
I don't think the world will end completely. Always gonna be able to rebuild and adapt.

It's on the opinion of a few physicists.. it's not the truth. They've been mentioning stuff like this for years. Who remembers the "end" in 2012? >.<

 

There's a chance it could happen tomorrow. There's a chance it could happen in a quadrillion years with somehow advancing so much in technology that we wont need a sun, and also the sun exploding/expanding somehow won't affect the Earth at all.

It really depends. Easier to tell then than now.

Nothing's impossible. Technology has advanced so much in the past decade there's no telling what could be next. Yes, it is highly improbable but there is a SMALL chance that we could be that technologically advanced that we could find a way to avoid it affecting us.

I don't believe this will happen, but I do believe it is possible.
