What watches do people wear daily?

Only from a fashion standpoint, there is a pretty huge subculture of watch geeks into the inner workings and looks called horologists. Something about having a nice automatic or mechanical watch is intriguing to a lot of folks. Have you seen an auto/mechanical watch with a transparent caseback or know that most if not all of them operate with actual jewels (typically rubies) in the high friction areas to reduce wear on the metal? The intricacies are pretty mind-blowing honestly. From an engineering standpoint common movements and quartz type watches (which make up roughly 90% of the "fashion" market) are simply boring.

 

I'm not really a watches guy, if I had to pick one I'd get a Rolex of course, they look dope. Sticking to my mobile tho.

There are a myriad of brands that cost considerably more than rolex but very few if any can touch the iconic watches Rolex has produced. I mean there have got to be hundreds if not thousands of submariner copies or "homages" produced by other companies. Audemars have excellent movements and some fascinating engineering behind them but honestly their octagonal bezels on their modern offerings just looks like cheap gaudy shit in my opinion, but some of their vintage stuff is pretty sweet. In the typical AP price range I would certainly choose a VC or Patek over an AP any day of the week but honestly I doubt i'd drop more than a few grand on a watch even if I were a multi-millionaire.

Back in reality i've been considering purchasing an Omega since I handled an nice seamaster with an exhibition back. I've considered the speedmaster but don't really care for busy dials. Tudor has popped up on my radar as well, Rolex made casing and ETA movements, whats not to like.

 

The Rolex completely mainstreamed the "luxury watch" in my opinion. AP was a dying brand until they got lucky with their Royal Oak. I still would prefer a Rolex to be honest however. Everyone knows what a Rolex is, you see one and you automatically associate expensive.

I either wear my SKX009 with red, white, and blue NATO strap or my Casio MDV with black NATO strap. Depends on the clothes I am wearing. I love divers.

 

So the LG Watch Style finally arrived and I gotta say I love it. Its extremely simple, no heart rate and no on board cellular. Just a plain and simple smart watch that connects to your phone.

It's made me realise how much I've missed wearing a watch and its also shocked me as to how useful it is. Quickly check a notification in the car whilst driving without being distracted, its there. Change songs on Spotify by just pressing the skip on your watch.

Would I spend the £200+ price tag on it... no.

But the fact I got it for free is unreal. Life's Good

 

What up SKX fam! I'm also partial to natos as well but here lately perlons have been getting the most play because they just breathe so well in these hot ass summers (and they swap just like a nato) if you haven't check them out. During the fall I usually rock the oyster on my SKX though. Natos come to play on the 5, weekender and oddly enough casio w59. The w59 is a recent acquisition and the only battery powered watch I fuck with these days.

Got a vintage vostok amphibian waiting at the post office (had to sign for delivery and missed it because of work), i've got a soft spot for russian watches as well as divers so this is a win win.

Some people like nice things? 2-300 is on the lower end of the spectrum when talking about timepieces honestly, not that there isn't a ton of great options in the sub $500 dollar price range. Fantastic shitpost my dude, you're going places.

 

Thats not my particular style but i'm curious about seiko's solar watches since automatic/mechanical chrono's are pretty expensive. How's the power reserve? I love seiko, my 5 and skx009 have been near bombproof in my experience. I ended up modding my skx with a domed sapphire, new blue bezel and a solid linked super oyster bracelet from strapcode. The new bracelet was/is a huge improvement over the stock seiko's so if you ever end up wanting to change up I can't recommend strapcode enough though i'm unsure if they do gold plated stuff.

Personally, i wear g-shocks. Nice look, comfortable, and does what i need it to.

 

I just got a new leather Timex watch, I would usually alternate between that and my Gshock watches.
