    Does 0.999... equal 1?

Yes, like Annex said, you can't compare fractions and decimals. Fractions can be whatever you want it, precisely how you want it(whole numbers), the decimal system works in powers of 10, meaning there are some values, YOU CANNOT APPLY TO IT.

    1/3 = .33

    2/3 = .67

    3/3 = 1.00

That above is ROUNDED, as all three of those, if you wanted the exact value, ARE INCORRECT. We inventing rounding because we don't have the perfect math system, and probably never will.

If you still don't get it, think of it this way. Saying .99 = 1.00 is like saying 99% on a test, is just as good as a 100%. Sure, they are so very close, but that's not the point, they are NOT THE SAME VALUES.

    End of discussion.

    We're not rounding.

    Let's say you add up 9/10, 9/100, 9/1000,9/10000, etc.

    What's your final answer?

    Does 0.999... equal 1?

    0.9999.
And that does not equal 1.

A lot of people belive that because it's so close to 1, that there's just that 0.0000000000...1, it's 1. But it's not.

    Does 0.999... equal 1?

Alright, once and for all, let's compare some of you people's logic.

    You say .99 = 1.

    Then doesn't .98 = .99?

It's only .01 or .00001, and so on. Why wouldn't it be the same?

That's like saying 99%(.99) is the same as 100%(1).

AS LONG AS THERE IS A VALUE IN BETWEEN THE NUMBERS, how can they be the same value? It makes absolutely no sense.

    Does 0.999... equal 1?

    Absolutely.

    .9899999999... =.99

If you add up 9/10+9/100/+9/1000+...+9/10^n, you will get one.

Regardless, if it is after that infinite number of zeros, THERE STILL IS A ONE, it doesn't disappear.

Therefore, there is another four letter word that should be used, not done, but fail.

I will give you a chocolate bar in after an infinite number of years have past.

Will you receive a chocolate bar? No.

    Such is infinity.

    0.0000000000000000000000000000000... is 0.

if an event takes an infinite amount of time to occur, the event will not occur.

The difference between 0.99 repeating and 1 is infinitely small. That is how you can look at it. It is there, but it's infinitely small.

    Does 0.999... equal 1?

sorry, but no, 0.999 cant equal 1, and people whouls use things like 1/3 and 2/3 they should jsut use percent and say "it's about 35%" instead of "its a bit above 1/3"
