The Grand Exchange:

Are you fed up of trying to be heard above a crowded Varrock Marketplace? Are you tired of organising to meet players who want to trade with you? Do you just want to get on with the things you enjoy, rather than standing around, hoping that someone wants your full splitbark armour?

If the answer is "yes" to any of those questions, then Brugsen would like to direct you to his marvellous new Grand Exchange! This huge establishment is home to a RuneScape first - an item marketplace - where members and free players can buy or sell a huge range of items.

Using the Exchange couldn't be any easier:

Bring items you wish to sell or money to buy stuff with.
Speak to one of the Grand Exchange clerks to either put items up for sale or to make a bid on any items.
The clerks will take your items or money and look for a matching bid/sale to match you up with.
You may have to wait for your bid to be accepted or for the clerks to find a purchaser - then again, it could happen in moments!
You will receive a message when the trade has been completed and you can go to the Grand Exchange or any bank to pick up your purchases or money.
Members are able to make six offers for sale or purchase at any one time, while free-to-play adventurers can have two. To make best use of these, Brugsen has advised his clerks to accept stacked and noted items; for example, 1,000 cut diamonds would only take up one slot, allowing you to make five other trades at any time!

Lol, I think one of thier developers was to much into WoW and decided to introduce an "Auction centre". Lol if anyone plays WoW they'll understand what I'm talking about.

 

Yeah.. they also might think their is a money glitch, which they can't stop at this point, so they planned this.

Well anyways back on topic, I have never played WoW, but dont most games have something like a Grand Exchange? Sure it isnt an original idea, but it helps a lot, anything that can improve rs is fine by me, even if it is ripped off some other game.

 

i didnt know the GE was an "aution center"....

 

OFC they ripped wow.. they cant take it blizzard ownz them... do u see jagex on t.v? .. no.. but blizzard u do...

Player a puts item x on G.E
Player b buys it while at the same time player A takes the item of the G.E

in many respects it very similar and uses very similar mechanics, however being able to put in a bid on items that are not currently listed/available for sale is way more kick arse. Okay, so in WoW you can access from any city (rock!) and you can retrieve items from more locations but then again WoW charges to sell.

I dunno which is better, guess its up to you which you prefere, but then again an auction house is a rather generic idea (Galaxies Bizarre or Ultimas play owned shops for example). Heck fantasy games / MMOs are rather generic when you get down to it so unless your willing to go 'its all a rip off of Lord Of The Rings!' arguing who did what seems a bit pointless to me.

personally i like it and have managed to make some decent cash from playing the market

I don't really play any of the two so, I haven't had much experience with the G.E. I've made an account and jus' gonna check it out for now. Maybe it might turn out to be better than WoW's idea.

 

It actually sucks because you can't just search for people selling a certain item you have to wait for jagex to pair you up -_-. Uber gay and they will probably remove trading and make you do it through the grand exchange. Then they can control the prices for any item they want.

This is all very true isnt it obvious runescape are copying updates from other games..they obviously dont have enough brains for there own ideas

 

It will suck if jagex deletes trade option, this site would die.

my friend plays wow... the auction house.....


its very true... ive been seein this alot.... all jagex needs to do is put rs on a disc and program the game to have shitty lag

 

the grand exchange update was fine, but all these new updates with the duel arenas and pking are so gay they just screwd up pking and staking for everyone
