I don't care that much if it passes but I think theres some vote abuse going on looking through this thread, 35 comments(4 of which are banned) when theres 120 votes either people are being very lazy in this suggestion and not commenting or theres a bunch of abuse going on.

It's currently 60/40, if u pruned all these guys who are evading just to vote and scam and whatnot I have a feeling the results will be more no then yes.

 

I owned the largest commission staking clan on RS3, and can tell you that if you want to implement it on Sythe, it will have more negatives than positives. Assuming that it is easy and risk-free is a misconception.

The problem with even "trusted" players commission staking is that the potential of them slyly scamming is very high. I'm not saying they'll take your money and leave, I'm saying people can vs their friends, place overlays, secretly scam without the bettor even realising with techniques you guys can't even imagine would exist, - and at the end of it you would assume it was a normal loss. You would be betting on a guaranteed loss. This would have a negative impact on sythe, as this NEEDS to be closely monitored. There is no safety net either, if a trusted member were to scam or get caught scamming, there is no "higher position/admins" that would refund their scam. It will not work, and will turn out to be bad content because of this.

It required us to have VERY strict rules for our hosts to prevent this, and when it did happen, I had to refund out of my own pocket numerous times. Also needed was a constant monitoring of streams, checking of hosts past broadcasts by all staff members on a regular basis, having certain specifications for the stream itself etc., having certain specific rules if you gap, having specific rules if you miss a hit, having specific rules if you get scammed, having specific rules if you get banned with the bettors GP, having certain rules if you gap/misclick mid-stake...I could go on, but you get the point.

What I'm trying to say is that there would need to be strict rules enforced, otherwise it would just be a huge risk for anyone involved. If you don't have a strict set of rules, and then having those set of rules enforced and checked upon, it would be chaos. People who aren't regular stakers assuming commission staking is easy are wrong, my ranks have had to redo stakes countless times, refund bets/stakes out of their own pocket, there's always some new glitch/scam that comes about that we have to be aware of and updated of, there's a lot of things that can go wrong.

So even though I love commission staking and it was my passion, I unfortunately feel it would turn out to be very bad on Sythe UNLESS it is closely monitored and regulated. People hosting it need to be VERY trusted and need to be regular stakers who know what they are doing, and can afford to redo stakes out of their own pocket incase mistakes happen, and are able to provide good quality evidence of their stakes on livestream (i.e not have a bad computer/be able to stream). Would usually be set at 5% commission staking, but on sythe you can expect people are gonna undercut every day and it will go to 4% 3.9% 2% 1% and commission free stakes, it would be very pointless.

There would still be 5x more scam reports because of bettors that are angry that are cleaned, I had to deal with those type of people multiple times daily, ask any host. People would need to supply sufficient evidence i.e they would need to stream, have proof of the stake, have good enough quality streams etc.

 

I wouldn't have any interest in hosting/using a commission staking service so I'm pretty neutral on this. I originally voted yes but after seeing what @Soul Rich had to say I've changed my vote to no. I can also see the possibility of someone making a mistake and not having the funds to pay back/retry the stake leading to good people getting into trouble regardless of wether they had intent to scam or not. Too much staff effort required and no real benefit from implementing this imo.

 

Yea this is true, we've had some of the nicest people you've meet unfortunately turn to scamming because of simple things such as lag, they had 1300M bet, lagged and lost due to the lag, therefore they would need to redo, however they could not afford to redo so scam-quit, and obviously us as the owners would refund the bettors, and they ruined their entire reputation for life due to a small mistake which they could not get out of.

Commission staking can be used when strict rules are applied to control how its used. Out of all my time working with Elite Ranks and hosting with them, its all been mostly positive as well as having a great community. This would be a massive addition to sythe.

anyway elite ranks was biggest commission staking fc in elite ranks. yt subscribers says it all c;

 

After reading what soul rich said, it sort of makes sense. It would need to be regulated. But for my love of staking, I wouldn't vote no rather find a work around. My suggestion would be to have rank. Like OMM hard to obtain yet free, and only those who meet certain requirements be able to host. Therefore due to the less no. Of hosts and streams or reports are going to very easy to monitor. I would love to see commission staking sub section tbh.

Sounds great, but sythe staff don't monitor this. They are courts not police, they're specifically instructed to not monitor things and let people report to them. Sure they can put all the rules in the world, but slow response times means those do little to noting to actually protect people

 

Even tho if its not monitored, making staking rank as prestigious and hard to obtain like OMM is certainly going to keep the vaders and scammers away? That solves a fair bit of the problem.

 

See but to middleman you don't need the OMM rank. We can't just say "only people with these ranks can do this" as it's not a policy sythe has ever followed. If we have to do that, it's too dangerous of a market to have

But on topic, Soul Rich has some great points. I love staking but I honestly don't know if it'll help anything anymore. At this point I'm 50/50. I don't think a lot of good would come out of this honestly.

 

Too much scams would happen, We still run rs3 commission staking in RS3 after it got banned. But we allow very few hosts to do it. As the scam risk is high. Although it would work in a WHOLE clan mixed with dicing gambling ect like Elite Ranks do.

 

Couldn't the official rank for being a host, or whatever you want to call it, be exactly like the OMM rank? People can still be hosts but if they have this hard to obtain rank people will be more inclined to go to them because of safety. People can still use other hosts that don't have the rank but the option to use trusted people will be there. Just like middle manning.

 

Should definitely have its own "sythe rank" for this like said above. 90% of this community would scam $100..... which is sad AF. Bringing this in would just bring in more DNT users. if you catch my drift

I only skimmed through the comments here so I apologize if I'm just repeating what someone else already said. I voted no. Commission staking would be way too hard to regulate on Sythe. The main reason commission staking worked in fcs was due to the fact that large deposits had to be made in order to "purchase" a rank. That is not a possibility on Sythe. Scamming would be far too easy (staking a friend, overlays on the screen to hide armour, simply scam quitting with the gp, etc). If we connect it to Sythe I'd imagine all we would gain is an increase in the number of scam reports, rather than an increase in site activity. The ranking system I see mentioned wouldn't work either. While they could assign ranks similar to OMM, there's no way to guarantee that a Sythe-ranked staker would be available at all times, and people would turn to anyone offering the service at the time they need it. You can't limit the stakers to only those with the rank either, as Sythe is a free market. I don't see this working, the cons outweigh the pros.

 

Maybe make a clam for commission staking on discord that is verified by sythe staff and only trusted ranks on Discord can do the commision stake for customers ..?

It's not safe, just less dangerous. No one is immune from scamming.
