Grand Exchange Released!

The grand exchange has been released! I am currently playing, and it is so laggy that I can barely move/speak. Check the RS main page for information. Please post here regarding your comments. The pros and cons of it. If you think it will raise gold prices. If you think it will screw with the RS economy.
I think it will lower item prices, therefor increasing the value of gold itself and making it worth more, if that makes any sence. =/

 

I will look at it when I get home. These computers are not worthy of my RS time. But how is it? Decent update?

It's still pretty bad.

Marketing is - as predicted - destroyed by this update. Those who say "there's still world 2!" aren't merchants, and probably think armors and rares were markets. Rather, it was common items that people used in bulk.

Right now, it's a lot easier to buy than sell, since everyone is tossing things into the exchange to see how it works. As a result, several prices will probably fall, in the short run. In fact, some prices will stay lower: previously, competition consisted of the 10 or so people who could be bothered to sell the same item at the same time in the same place; even the forums were limited. Supply now consists of everyone in the market looking to sell the same item at any place and time.

It is a nice convenience for buyers, though. The only detriment to them is the shop update (which prevents skillers from using general stores to convert notes into items by jacking up prices).

So basically: If you're a marketer, it's a bad update. If you're not, it's good.

 

not used this yet but i dont really understand why they have done this it was part of the game to have to try and sell items and made it a bit more fun. i can see items selling forums being used alot less. maybe im just being silly as usual lol.

If you play the grand exchange right you can actually make money very quickly. I just made 200k within 3 minutes just by bidding on over stocked items and then reselling.

In less than a month, they've managed to kill off the only remaining ways to legibly make money in the game?

 

To help people market they should just let any world open automatically without being nonfull or whatever..i dont get how the grand exchange works :|

 

I think its great. Short and simple and to the point. Merchenting deserved to be ruined in my opinion, except for rares.

 

In one fell swoop, Jagex destroyed my hopes of earning a Santa without account selling/rl trading/etc.

This update completely smashes merchanting and screws over the prices of many items, and I'm sure there are thousands of people out there who have lost money as a result. The easter I worked so hard to buy for 7.3m a month ago now costs only 6m in the exchange. Wizzy g, which used to take 800k easily in the varrock marketplace, is now locked at 480k for a set.

Most merchanters have dozens of valuable items floating around their bank and inventories, waiting for the right buyer to come along. Thankfully, I was smart enough to sell most of this in varrock before the big update. I'm sure there are thousands of others, however, who must have lost millions with the big price drop.
