No it isn't.

I'm pro free-market but a free market implies staff wont be involved in the market/ the market will not be regulated.

Sythe's market is very heavily regulated, I would say the free market is mostly gone compared to when I first came here.

Now adays it simply comes down to, is this section going to hurt sythe and its users more than it will help it, clearly as you can see a whopping 42% of people think this will damage sythe(58% not thinking so), considering from what I've seen(comments in this thread) most staff are against this and considering its heading towards a 50/50 break I'm going to guess this wont be implemented.

Free market sadly is now heavily regulated(in my opinion) so to answer your question, no its not a free market.

This poll should be stripped of anyone new though @Tmoe every rental scammer is going to ban evade or their buddies will to vote yes because its so easy to scam.

With those votes removed I'd guess the majority would be voting no >.>.

 

Support. Anything that'll keep this site alive I'm down for. People scam no matter how many avenues they have to do it. We'll ban them.

 

Commission staking will allow groups to join together. When people want to join they will start playing as well. I see this as a method to keep players actually on and playing. Gamble at your own risk.

 

You take many of those quotes out of context. Deciding restrictions on an existing market and deciding if a market is beneficial or not are two different things. When it comes to the state of the forums at the moment, you have to think about keeping it alive. Will it help traffic in the short term? Maybe. But it will kill traffic in the long term as new people try it and are scammed from the already existing and growing scam-Vader base we have on sythe. As people have their experience and tell their friends, people won't come to Sythe due to more scams if this is implemented. I saw this clearly when a large population of the people I talked to whilst helping PR already knew about Sythe, but were either scammed or had a friend who was scammed and thus believe it to be a sketchy and unsafe marketplace and won't join.

That aside, here are my reasons for no:

1) it's already outlawed ingame. Gambling went to websites because it was outlawed ingame and saw too high of a ban rate.
2) Another market for scammers. You can put all the regulations you want, but this won't stop scammers from scamming, or even slow them down really.
3) scam-vaders would actually be able to scam more. By the time their banned from a report going up, they could have easily scammed not just commission staking, but account renting too.
4) We've seen what gambling does to many people, I don't think it's a culture we should endulge more than we already are.
5) There are going to be many grey area reports:
* The commission staker staging a fight to lose once they receive money (how do you prove this)
* What happens if the stake is not recorded and it's hearsay but regulations say it must be recorded?
* Account is banned
* More tweeting reports
* Duel arena scamming (platebody, potions, etc)
* Convenient stream blackouts
Etc.

I could go on, but I believe you get my point.

1) So are 90% of the things we do on this site there's always a risk associated with them. Selling gold is illegal in game so they've been moved to websites.
2) How do you regulate account sales? Gold sales? Services? Sure you have the Sythe TOS that hangs above all but that literally has no power in preventing scams.

We should blame the buyer since the logical thing to do would be to punish the staker for not recording.

Obviously the person who paid for the commission staking must be punished since hes the one who lost the $$$ and initiated the trade.

Only people that profit off of Sythe are the small companies with huge reputation. Otherwise people are getting scammed left and right. Account recovery, paypal chargeback, false MM, etc.

Give out official ranks, to trusted members of the Sythe community.
Only members with the official rank can "host" commission staking. (live streaming would add a more personal security aspect)

I would be in support of this, but I feel like there should be an ongoing application process or something and there should be a list of people stickied who are VERIFIED commission hosts, and anyone not verified shouldn't be able to do it.

The application will help filter people out that have previously scammed and might do it again.

Maybe there should also be a donor requirement to do it as well? Since it's a rather risky business.

100% agree with this if these options are add, we should add commission staking. i also do agree with people saying that i would create a loop hole for scamming but if we do set a hierarchy we should be okay.

To all the people saying there should be ranks. You guys are dumb. This is a free marketplace. There is a risk involved in every transaction and you as the buyer have the power to choose who you buy from based on their reputation. Staking will be no different. There is a fair risk involved in account sales, accounts sold get recovered all the time. Doesnt mean we need "ranks" there. Buyers just need to be a lil more cautious on who they buy from.

I'm personally against it as I just see it being another way for people to scam. Account rentals alone are already very sketchy, you see people getting scammed by renters all of the time.

 

Generally commission staking owners will take a deposit which they can do but Sythe doesn't want to for legal reasons. This is a case of, go with the more trusted user just like in account sales, rentals, names, etc. Those sections have such a high rate of being scammed in and being able to pull it off easily but we still allow them to stay. And in each of those sections, if you are smart you go for the person with reputation rather than the newcomer (although newcomers can also not scam)

 

Commission staking is still on runescape Clans just use a mule where the gp is traded on, then on their max they would stake the gold but not trade it from the mule to the main. If the staker wins, he trades the gp back from the mule to the better. Ban rates are low using this method, just need a large bankroll to do this But yes, I support this
