How can something be ever lasting?

People tell me about god and how he has always been. But i really do not see HOW that is possible. Everything has a beginning and an end. How has God ALWAYS been there? At one point he had to of been created.
    I just don't understand it.

Can someone tell me what they think?

How can something be ever lasting?

IF God created time and beginning, wouldn't he be everlasting, because he created it?

I don't believe there can be anything from the beginning of time, till right now, maybe except God.

there is no god its like a story about ghosts, people claim to have seen them but no real proof same as god.

The Earth and everything was created during millions of years with something called "Chemical Reactions" everything reacted with each other and eventually made Earth etc.

Well if you go back to the very beginning, it all started out with a random sea of probability fluctuation according to Quantum Mechanics. Or something like that. It is possible, I think, for something to have existed since the beginning of time, as long as time isn't infinite in that direction, which I don't think it is. Although it is possible, I still don't think its likely, since everything we observe has or has had a beginning.

God alwaus was and always will be becuase think about it, something had to have been in order to create time, unless time is infinite? but you just said nothing could be, so it makes more since that a deity or all perfect being would have always been rather then just a mass of elements? doesnt it?

Yes, it does make since to believe that there is higher being that created time and he is infinite and time isn't... Joking

We will never ever know, since we will not be able to measure time on that scale...

Well I am a Christian, but I am open minded about things like this. Now, if "God" created time, space, and the worlds, he would have probably made it short. Now his life may be a shorter time than ours, meaning that humans die at ages of 80, while by the time he would be 80, 10 billion people would have died, get what i'm saying? Maybe time runs slower for him than for us, that is kind of what I concluded on my own. Plus if he created a world, he would make to his own liking, we aren't all dumb so the world isn't "slow." It's fast pasted.

Your not the only one to believe that, in the bible god compares our life time to blink of how long we wil live in heaven. So the afterlife has to be longer... Also in the bible, when Adam and Eve is removed from the Garden of Eden, he says they will die, there children will die and there children will die in 1 days time... Again God says he created The Earth and the heavens in 6 days. 6 days to us can be 1000 years in the afterlife to god. We will never know.

true, but still doesn't it seem more logical someone existed forever rather then something?

Erm, what do you mean you don't believe in start and end? Just a little example, EVERYONE will die one day, no-one lives forever. So when someone is born that is the start of thier life, then when they pass-away. This is the end of thier life. Pretty simple, I do also believe in after-life. Either heaven or hell.

    Going by christian religion:
God made everything. Including that almost everything has a beggining and a end. Except for himself.

    6 days is 6 days.

Otherwise, why is the sabbath not 1000 years?

Think of it this way: "God" created the universe. He put his will into making the awesome 3d graphics and a nice little timer control along with it. A few sub routines here and there, maybe a form once in awhile.

God exists in a place where time doesn't exist.

    Edit:

Ignore the above paragraph, I saw Cruel_Machine and thought of programming for a second.

the way i see this is that there can be a everlasting person, jesus was not everlasting himself but since he sacraficed himself for his world he was reborn into a after-life in the form of god and got gave the ability to do what he does and never die because no one will be there to take his place because no 1 would sacrafice himself like he did.

If the Sabbath were to be 1,000 years, I'm not sure how successful the religion would have ended up being.

    *EDIT*

So, do you then claim that the Earth was created in six days, in contrast with overwhelming amounts of scientific evidence?

It was not created in 6 earth days. God also say our life is a blink to the afterlife. God, claims that it was 6 days not of Earth time.

What I claim is that the creationist belief is that the earth was created in 6 days - a day being the length of the sabbath.

I believe the authors of the bible intended for it to mean what it says - 6 literal days. If you're translating one day into a thousand, or a million years, then write your own testament.

The only thing I've been taught to be ever-lasting is God. He created what humans can't create. Also God isn't a "being" thats why God never had a start, and will never have an end. Simple.
