Can the computer screen do serious damage to Your vision?

Well today, My dad was talking that both of His friend's sons have glasses because of being on the computer for too long. So it got me thinking, can the computer screen really fuck up my vision. I spend about 5 hours a day on the computer and yes, I know it's too much.
So post away, how many hours a day do You spend on the computer and has Your vision gotten worse because of that, or perhaps are You forced to wear glasses/lenses because of that?

Well depends how long your on the computer ive heard rumors about it affecting.

 

My daddy said if i look at porn i will go blind.... i told him that i was on the other side of the room.

 

well i think it contributes along with tv and other things that strain your eyes but i have 20/20 and i sepnd about an hour to two a day

 

I PLAY LIKE 12 Hours aday and my vision is better than ever Seriously here is the deal: IT doesnt matter how long you play its about the screen(BLURRYNEST) If you have your screen on 60hz for about 1 year Then its not bad for your eyes but i reccomend 70hz becaus its less blurry(You cant see it with your own eyes) Well This is it: If you go around changing from 60 to 70 all the time it will be bad for your eyes, if you got under 60HZ i reccomend you to change it or if you cant you need to buy another screen but if you use under 60 i reccomend you to go to a doctor before starting playing again

 

This happens when you're older, and yes, it can damage your eyes. I spend 1 hour or a bit longer on the computer daily, or none at all.

 

I spend a lot of time either play xbox, or on the computer, and I wear glasses. I'm told thats the reason that I have them too.

Oh well, if I go blind I'll just kill myself

 

Oh and I play like 14hours? not when there is school and my vision is good and Dont worry you are very unlucky if you get glasses

I use to spend 5 hours a day playing runescape. I watch allot of tv and play allot of xbox, and I have perfect vision. I don't think it hurts your vision, but i suppose it might depending on what screen you have.

i dont think i believe it affects vision

 

depends on many factors. These being the most important.

1. time of usage
2.graphics quality (playing some fps acutally is proven to IMPROVE eyesight and aim)
3. genetics
4. amount of light in surrounding areas

 

Ya, It is proven to dude. They Said u shouldn't play on the computer for more than 2 hours a day.

 

I think it's bullshit also, my vision is like perfect...and iv'e spent 6 hours a day on the comp almost every day for 4 years.

 

just look far for 5mins every 1 hour of playing and you will be fine

 

Actually...now that I think of it...

Before I got into the whole cyber world my vision was 20/15

It's now 20/20

 

i have perfect vision and i spend quite a while watching tv and comp eeveryday
i dont believe it can affect your vision
or maybe it affects some people more than others?
