The world is past its carrying capacity as it is. What's a few more clones?

You're unique, like everyone else. Nothing wrong with that.

What's a few more clones? I hope you are being sarcastic, otherwise you showed how you would totally disregard them as a human life.

We're unique? Not once cloning starts.

There's some sarcasm in that. But my regard for human life beyond my own depends on something more than my respect or lackthereof for human dignity.

If you are cloned, you are still unique. There is another person who has your genetic identity, but they're still independent. Not that I can find any reason to clone an entire person...

Either way, the benefits of cloning outweigh the concern that cloning will increase population (I don't think any supporter of cloning would see that as a possible use) and the loss of identity. If you want to be unique, go ahead. Not like they're going to clone you against your will.

yes to cloning, clones can be slaves, solders and of course if I die or anything I can just clone myself, and I will live on, all my memories will be moved to that body asif i never died, I do not believe in souls etc, so it would be like a brain transfer.

to be honest with you, im not sure why people here are talking about the medical benefits of cloning... there are no medical benefits from cloning that cannot be achieved from stem cells(once relevant research has been done in that field)
and with the recent breakthrough in stem cell research(using skin cells rather then embryo's) even the catholic church is behind it.

I think cloning should be ok, I really don't see that there would be anything wrong with it, more people to help out in more places like Ethiopia.

I think cloning should be alowed. Or at least making some kind of organs :S that would help out alot of people but.. the sad part is it wouldnt be free.. it would proborbly be hardly expensive

If Michael Jackson was cloned, would his clone be black or white?

I don't think human cloning should be allowed. Too many risks.

The place to create humans is in Asia, where the religion is mild and the state funds your research.

this is a really good subject :) i believe this is good for a number of reasons, 1 of the main reasons would have to be the advanced technology in making them, the amazing things you could make the clone perform imagine how much easier life would be with one and it would not have to b a luxury in every house. you think about how much technology has advanced so that day to day things things u can do without trouble well a clone would make it 2 times the amount of stuff in 1 day u could do twice as much stuff u would usually do. and their is nothing wrong with that in my opinion!

You sick fuck, read the bible, your going to hell if you think thats going to happen. IM just messing with you.

I honestly think it is a good point, about the organs needed, and all. But what if god was one of us. How would he feel if we were duplicating his own creations, where it said humans should be unique. Although just cloning an organ, but COMPLETE human cloning is wrong in my opinion.

Edit: Although, as I think about it, IF god intended me to get cancer, and if he did plan to have me survive it, that would teach me a new lesson in life. Although I'm not much of a bible goer, I was raised in a church.

We're in his image aren't we?

So... we are one of him, and he is one of us.

Everything should be all right then.

^not when we are born. God said he will shape us into his image by testing us, and by testing us he meens putting us through stressful moments, testing our patience and faith in him.

It's easy for you to say, but when somebody close to you is dying, and the treatment that would have saved them is being denied because of overpopulation concerns, I doubt very much that you'd sit back with a "Oh well, what can you do?" attitude.

You are correct, but, the thing is, in order to use stem cells to regrow organs, the person for which they are to be grown must be cloned. Stem cells taken from that clone can then be used to help the person.

I did hear about the skin cell breakthrough, though. A link for those of you who haven't: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/21/AR2005082101180.html

    It' already allowed.

I think it should be, i mean humans want to futher thier development in the universe, and to do this maybe this is a start. Who knows, maybe we'll discover something else while trying to clone. Another source of fuel may be found.

    So yes, it should.
