    Why is murder wrong?

For all of you bringing religion into this discussion, please bring back every diehard Catholic from the crusades and have them sit down, look me straight in the eye, and tell me that their murder against Jerusalem was excused by God while no other murder is.

    That's what I thought.

    Why is murder wrong?

it is wrong because all people have a right to life, and thats something that is given to them, for another person to deprive them of that in vein is wrong.

    Why is murder wrong?

Well, why do people inherently have a right to life? What underlying thing, force, or principle makes taking away life right or wrong?

    Why is murder wrong?

Human kind in animal terms, are one race. A race thats ment to live in harmony with one another. Animals don't usualy kill one another in thier own race, with some exeptions (food, breeding rights, territory etc..). So killing one another in vein is against the nature of our being, which is wrong in a way.

    Why is murder wrong?

Are we just "meant" to live in harmony? I thought that survival of the fittest was, evolutionary speaking, the best way to go. If I kill another man using my intellectual prowess, steal his money, and do not get caught, then I am more fit than he was. Why is that just wrong?

    Why is murder wrong?

Fair enough. But if I were to kill a man, and profit nothing from it, what makes that an immoral deed?

    Why is murder wrong?

If you kill someone and don't gain profit then what would be your motive?Animals kill for a reason, like you said, survival of the fittest, if you don't have to kill to survive, then it is against the fabric of our nature as mamals to kill one another. And you could take and contraversial moral descision and question its morality. It's all a point of view, every rule we as humans set up, we do to protect ourselves. What made Hitler wrong, what made the religeous crusades wrong?...concious moral fiber.

    Why is murder wrong?

There doesn't need to be a motive. What matters is that, outside of human society, on a large scale, it's completely irrelevant. The universe doesn't care.

    Why is murder wrong?

Well in that case, nothing is wrong or right, everything we do is completely meaningless and will not have an outcome on direction in which disorder in the universe increases or decreases. What makes killing yourself wrong, what makes blowing up the earth wrong. Apperantly nothing. Right and wrong is just concious values set by our most basic instinct, survival.

    Why is murder wrong?

    Basically, yes.

Practically, of course, I don't follow that philosophy. I believe that my mind is nothing more than the sum of 200 billion interacting brain cells, but I find it more enjoyable to act as a emotionally capable human being rather than a logical robot.

    Why is murder wrong?

Exactly, a robot interacting on electrical signals. Made up of matter, absolutely no different than a pebble, or a star, or any other inatimate object therof. Everything we know is just energy running through matter in our brain.
Seems rather dull when you put it that way don't you think?

    Why is murder wrong?

The human side of me is rather dismayed when it thinks of this, yet the logic is sound.

But, I CAN think, I CAN feel, so I shall live as such.

    Why is murder wrong?

This is a little off topic, but think if these signals could be emulated. We could control all aspects of living and what it means to live.

Well, it's morally wrong and you are stopping something that has not come to it's time...

I need to stop sounding so foscesious.

Nobobdy said it is right, he's asking how it is wrong.
