Defence and Magic

Hey guys. I have a 60 attk stre pure, and i am slowly but surely getting it to 99 magic.

I want to get some intense magic stakes in, but first I need to know something about defence..

Does having a higher defence level protect you from magic better? I know it allows you to wear stuff to protect yourself from magic.. but I'll be no-armor mage staking.

So i dont wanna ruin a great stre pure just for a mage pure.

If it turns out def does protect you against magic, ill raise my def level.. but I just wana know ahead of time.

good luck with 99 mage im on that road aswell but i have an account with 50 mage and 27 combat any advise?
