I don't PM non known users unless I add them to combat impostors or I know who I am PMing(ex- a gold seller who sold to me previously).

And everywhere i read it says "Always request pm to make sure you are dealing with the real person. A legit person will never refuse one." You are not even close to legit person refusing to verify yourself, but asking the code first like devil.
