Thanks man :) I work with 16 personal trainers and they aren't on board with intermittent fasting, rather 45min a week HIIT and circuit training after your strength training session. Don't cut carbs/proteins too much or you'll start to eat muscle during your cut, cardio is better to do than to drop too many calories.

Muscle loss is mostly a myth from what I've collected if you hit your protein. People think they're losing muscle but they're really losing water and glycogen, that's why you lose like 10 pounds on your first week but not really any strength. Hitting ~250g protein right now @ 6'3 200.

Multiple trainers told me it's a real thing and they've taken their NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, etc. and some have their masters in exercise nutrition/kinesiology so it definitely does occur. 250g is fine, most people do 1:1 body weight or 1:1.2 lean muscle mass, I was told 1:1 body weight so that's what I'm doing. Extra protein doesn't hurt, but those calories could be used for carbs for energy instead.

    Good improvement, keep it going.

Hopefully this motivates you, started cutting weight in December 2016, starting weight was 210,4 lbs (suffered from the skinny fat look as you can see below), been on a perfect diet ever since I began my journey. At the moment I am 167 lbs, probably somewhere around 13% bodyfat.

The chest image was taken at 182 lbs so it is a few months old, will update you with the final results in 3 weeks once this cut comes to an end.

    Starting point, 210 lbs.

As you can see I had quite the titties as well.

Mid point at 182 lbs. Chest is slowly starting to form at this point.

Arm picture was taken last night, got a lot better arms now than what I had at 210 lbs. In fact they grew quite a lot.

I will update you with the final results in 3 weeks if you're interested to see the complete journey from fatass to badass.

My plan is to cut to 10% and then clean bulk and stay 10% while gaining muscle :) it'll be hard but oh well.

Really interesting article, and good to see the progress! I think i need to gather all my information, pictures and post the progress. :)

I started at 63Kg, now I am at 82Kg with 10.3% bf, trying to cut towards competition in 6 weeks, as per bulking seasson i used to be 92-94kg, however this will be first year that i'll try to compete through seassons and stay as lean as possible..

Been lifting 5-6 years, no gear, but considering haha :D

Times again, really good progress pal!

Why so many trainers? To me that seems counterproductive. They all have different advice/approaches, so how do you choose what to listen to if they have different opinions?

I ask cause family member is trainer and he doesn't like the aspect of multiple trainers unless it's things like a weight trainer, dietician, etc.

Good job @Pure I know we don't interact a ton but really courageous to post this here and amazing progress.

Feels so good to get away from the computer and just enjoy the outdoors and workout and whatnot.

Do it man, it's always good to look back and see how far you've come! I've never been in shape so this is all new to me, I'm not even considering competing.

I work at a gym and just talk to the trainers, I don't pay or anything. No advice they've given me has clashed so far and I've learned a ton about kinesiology, dieting, proper routine building, etc. None of their advice has been so far off from one another so I'm not sure it's counterproductive because what they're telling me is fact, not opinion.

Thanks man :) just trying to be the best me I can be.

PA's Transformation - Gym Motivation [Updated]

This is really inspiring. First of all, thank you for sharing this!

I am in the opposite situation right now. I am currently underweight for my height/age (high metabolism), and am looking to bulk up a little bit while making sure the weight I do put on turns into muscle and not fat. I currently use an all-in-one at home workout machine, and while it does do me pretty well, I feel like I would see much better progress/results if I were to go to the gym and had more equipment at my disposal.

My issue is with my current job I end up working three 14 hour days during the week. By the time I get home from work on those days, I have very little/no motivation at all to do any sort of physical activity. Can any results be seen working out only four days a week? Would it be worth signing up to my local gym given my current schedule with work? Or should I stick to my all-in-one at home workout machine?
