How anyone can mine any cryptocurrency from their computer

I stumbled across this website called minergate. Its a website where you can mine bitcoin and alot of other different currencies right from your computer. You just download it from the website start the client and it automatically mines the most profitable currency for the day.

You'd not be able to make enough money using standard equipment to make it worthwhile.

In fact you'll probably lose money, if I recall correctly a decent amount of BTC is mined in China because of the very cheap (4c/KWH ish?) electricity.

That's certainly a luxury I wish I had, minus the whole communist overlords thing.
