Anti scammers

Ok , thanks for all the feedback guys ill keep thinking maybe Well Find something thats easy doable which prevent scammers

 

they need to keep a list, almost got scammed by someone

 

It's pretty trivial to implement all of these suggestions. I've been trying to brainstorm ideas on how to fix the current issues with scammers. Because EVERY single day since I joined there have been 2-3 people (SAME guys) scamming, and creating a brand new acc on a VPN, scamming again, repeat. I can't imagine how long it's been going on. If there was a real fix I'm sure the staff/mods here would have already suggested it.

- Lists won't help and will be too time consuming (there are so many scam reports daily), they just create a new account sythe, skype, email, rsn changes/new rsn account.
- Changing the MAC IP is very easy to do
- I agree that allowing VPN's allow for scammers to run rampant. In my opinion, All users should be given "NMU - Non Market User" tag by default, until they post from a Home IP.


The real fix is to aware all sythe users, especially the new ones, about the dangers of trading here and how to take all measures to make it so that they don't get scammed. It's really easy to jump onto this site and assume that scamming is a rare occurrence which just isn't the case.

 

Should just give twc to all users using vpn, or a new tag for that so people know they're upto something

 

This I can support. But only if the account was made on a vpn and is primarily used on a VPN

 

Would defeat the purpose of it, but i would agree to add a home ip verification process or something to remove that twc in case you have a valid reason to use it. Not sure how exactly it would go though

 

I still don't know why we cant just block users from logging in physical accounts from a vpn/proxy ip.

"The IP logging in has been detected as a vpn/proxy IP, login failed"

Restrict logging in as a member to non-vpn and proxy ip's and leave it alone for guests.

I've never understood what the problem is with this, if you cant login via a vpn or proxy then you've probably did something wrong on this forum anyway.

It wont hurt traffic because we allow guests to still visit from these ip's, they just cant register/login from them.

Literally would essentially remove the entire ban evasion and hacking problem in 1 shot, if it annoys a couple members who only login via vpns/proxys then make their lazy asses login from home, I mean the argument "People use vpns/proxys to login a lot" is just a stupid one.

The perks of restricting vpn/proxy logins would literally, remove ban evasion as a problem essentially, hackings aswell AND all the scams that happen due to evasion etc would be gone to.

These perks FAR outweigh the bitchy member that is annoyed because he cant get on from a proxy, I don't know why we cant do this.

 

I've forgetten something btw Guys people can ALSO change ips right?

 

And people please dont say people should be more carefull, people make accs donate 50$ fake vouches then scam like 500$ ITSS hard :/

 

@Sythe I would like to know if this is possible(above I quoted) & if u would be willing to do this? I am of the opinon there is potentially immense gain(almost 0 ban evasions, far less scams due to less evasions, harder to hack/stops hackings).

If it was left alone for guests it wouldn't damage traffic, if people are at their grandparents or whatever they can still just as easily login from their grandparents IP using their 2fa code, and SO FEW people go overseas and stuff that the perks far outweigh the drawbacks.
Thoughts?

 

Exactly i don't understand why people can logg on proxy's ( people Will find bypasses) but most of them Will be to dumb to use em, + every scammer less means x amount of people not getting scammed

 

It's fairly easy to spot fake vouches, but hard to know if someone has donated to scam.

All it take is for you to look at the so called vouches how old the accounts were, otherposts etc

 

Yes, but What i noticed at 'goldseller4all etc, that its one big scam group/hack group, they have alot of vouches and donations, but scam for nothing scammers ALSO farm accs just think we should make sure they cant come on here
