Stealing

Is it really wrong to steal from a big company such as Walmart? I was at Walmart today when my friend took something worth around $120. He claims it is not wrong sense they have made over billions of dollars and they put the small business out of business and they charge way over what something is worth. So is it really ok to steal from Walmart or other multi billion dollar stores?

 

I don't really have a problem with some forms of stealing. Stealing from walmart isn't going to hurt any individuals. Stealing from a small shop that is locally owned, however, actually does some significant damage.

That doesn't mean that if you get caught stealing you don't deserve to be punished :]

Also I think that there are differences between morals and law. Stealing from a giant corporation such as microsoft (free zune ftw) and walmart is illegal. However, I don't find it immoral. They won't know the difference and there is no significant damage in to anyones feelings, well-being, etc. In a counter-example, scamming in runescape isn't illegal, but I won't do it because it really makes people feel bad :[

 

Of course it's not okay.

Thieving is wrong, unless something like feeding a starving family is applied.

If your friend is good at that, he should do that every week, seriously.

well....although it doesnt really affect walmart...its still not good to get into the habit of stealing jsut becuase it really can become a habit (ive stolen like 500 dollars of cds from walmart lol, i just smash the cases in the bathroom and still them in those lame paper ones) its still wrong though to take somthing that doesnt belong to you

well actually stealing does affect large corporations... The larger the corporation the more thieves Per store and on top of that they have more locations everywhere... If there was no stealing prices would come down as the company has to put the prices up slowly to account for the products that may be stolen.

I used to steal skateboards from city beach and sell them when i had no money but not anymore...

Stealing is wrong but until you are put in the situation of stealing to survive or just not surviving you are in no position to say anything bad about the common thieves stealing to survive... However the rich bitches who steal to be "cool" can get fucked.

I tried to steal a gem in walmart one time and a message out of no where pops up and says "thieving level not high enough" Out of trying the a guard then starts to attack 5's on me.

I agree with Jansen on this. I personally don't steal, but if I know someone who steals from the walmart, and takes a chocolate, I'd be like whatever. If someone goes to the corner store run by the immigrants, who live off of their business and steal a chocolate, I'd bitch at them and tell them to go steal from walmart. -.-

 

Actually, they would keep the prices the same and have a bigger profit margin.

 

I agree that stealing is never right. However, in the big corporation aspect, it really won't hurt the company, so I guess in a sense it doesn't matter. I wouldn't do it personally.
