Nice to see something being done for a change about these sort of people. As well as RuneScape, he also attacked numerous Minecraft servers, his College / University network and other random Council (local government) networks around the UK. He

Dunno about you guys but putting £6,000,000 toward fighting DDoS attacks and at the same time losing £184,000 due to downtime (for Jagex alone) is pretty major.

The worst part about this is the fact that he is apparently Autistic and how his defence was it wasn't his fault because he was Autistic or whatnot. It's essentially saying "well, he did all this damage but he's Autistic so it's not his fault!!!".

Crazy how much power a random kid on the internet can have and how much damage he can do.

Who remembers when rs07 was being ddosed for legit weeks straight and they even changed the reddit image to "connecting.. please wait".. it's sad what these people have to do to bring our community down to bring theirs up. sad.

Most of the people responsible for that were using their own botnets/private botnets, not the stresser mentioned in OP.

I think he got off lucky with only 2 years...it will go by fast. They could have made an example of him. I wonder how much autism really had to do with what he did though...

Looks like the US has been trying to get him extradited from the UK to go over there, if successful then he's looking at up to 99 years for damages.

And I dunno how he intends to pay back millions of pounds, the colleges / universities should be the first ones on the list as these are places of education and they had to waste money that was meant for elsewhere to go into trying to stop the DDoS attacks.

There's been no more news articles about the guy since then so I guess the next step is to see if the high court will allow him to remain in the UK or be extradited to the US (and if he does go over there, he can kiss his life goodbye, aspergers or not)

yeah but he didn't kill nobody cuz of a ddos, should be a civil matter on the damage and state for the actual property but go figure
