Should homework be banned from schools?

I think homework DOES help you learn, if you do it, and do it correctly. But I do think teachers are giving students too much of it.

 

Absolutely not, and for obvious reasons.

 

This has got to be the dumbest thing ive ever heard. You are probably too lazy to do it, so you make such a thread. Do you even know the purpose of homework? There IS a reason you go to school, if you didnt know.

 

homework= bad, that's just the way it is lol.

 

I don't like homework. Why? Because i get to much of it. I wouldn't mind if i got about two maybe three homeworks a week. But we get about 4-5. It's really boring. I'd rather go to school to learn it than having it for homework.

It annoys me so much when i walk home from school knowing that you have lots of homework to do.

 

I think that "studying" helps kids do well on tests, which in most cases, is the heaviest weighted portion of the class. Homework on the other hand... just keeps students busy. Adults don't want kids to be able to have the time to "experiment" with drugs/alcohol. "Idle hands are the Devil's playground" they say...

The only reason I like homework is because it keeps my grade up .

 

EXACTLY. I get homework 24/7. I have a World Civilization book, and were suppose to take notes on it on every chapter; 39 chapters to be precise. My teacher in that class plans to finish the whole textbook by the end of the year.


So masterkiller, I didn't post this because I'm lazy; F*ck, I'm only failing my World History class, and its AP. Yes, I might have been dramatic by saying "Banning homework", but my main point now is reducing homework.

 

yea hw is annoying and always in the way. i do hw in school anyway so i dont learn anything at home and im still doin fine

 

I think kids should get less homework, but I don't think it should be banned from schools. Homework helps kids study, and those kids that you said didn't have homework for thirty five years, right? I bet if you compared their knowledge to other schools with homework they would get crushed.

 

Homework puts unneeded pressure on the child but help them understand responsibilty.

Well yea i hate it but i think it's really a good thing... And a lot of the time it depends on your teacher, as some of them regularly give around 1 hour of homework for just one subject.

Sometimes homework can be fun and stressful. I enjoy homework when I get it but if I don't I hate it...

Just because there aren't studies means it's true? No - Anyone could actually give a fuck what studies show. Some studies aren't even correct. You cannot possibly 'test' how much someone learned, there are so many factors involved using kids it's just not practical.

You all seem to be forgetting something, you all think homework is good... no it is not, im intelegent enough, i do my homework, im up to date in all 11 of my subjects.... Homework is useful for some subjects like maths and goeograpy, history too... posibly english but your not taking in that people do learn different ways... Some people do learn from constant repitition.... others do not, some have photographic memory that they see/do something once it sticks... im not saying dont do homework or ban it i just think school days and homework and all should be personalised from person to person, like fill in a questionaire, make it fall into a few diff category or just review the system, im not going to bs on about how the schools are flawed because tbh i wouldnt know, im not an expert...

 

No it's a necessary evil.
