I do believe in God and I know that he is my savior.

Also, The word 'pray' is mentioned 655 times in the bible, and 'prayer' is mentioned 184 times.

Prayer is talking to God.

You can define some words and pull out some random facts, but can you tell me "why" you follow your religion?
Thats kind of what I mean, people in church can recite random things in the bible. But they can never tell me why they believe or why they follow the religion. When I ask it always comes down to "thats what I was taught". And to me thats not a legit reason to follow.

Can you tell me what that means? I understand "I'm not ashamed to believe in god, because the ones who believe will be spared (something like that). But "to the jew first, and also to the greek" what the hell does that mean?

God and death can exist simultaneously. Death is not inherently bad.

But I do agree that too many religious people follow their religion only because they were raised to. They decide to remain ignorant instead of think and learn exactly what they believe and why.

There is no "Christian" church. Christianity has been split off into several branches. To say you are merely Christian is to say you are unsure about specific matters/beliefs. Yes, man has added stuff in, but what do you expect? It doesn't say much in the Bible about abortion, death penalty, etc... so you are indifferent to these things?

And @ jackc, Mormon's believe in revelation, so you can't say the rule against caffeine is man-made because caffeine hasn't been around for a while.
God doesn't change, but man does... that's the only reason why the religious laws and practices change (except in some cases of change via corruption). Otherwise we'd still be following the law of Moses.

No i didn't, I said the title of CHRISTIAN was man made bu the rules that follow in the base of the Religion are not sir.

I get what your saying cruel, I used my dad as an example. I used to be a devout Christian and I never questioned his "greatness", and when my dad got sick my religion kicked in and I said god will take care if this. But no he failed the test. . . twice. He will continue failing the test because your imagination can only do so much, your imagination can't save people.

The only good things that "GOD" does is from other people working hard. So what that quote means is if you work hard, and do what you have to do. Good things will come to you from God.
People like to give credit to him for all the good things that come to them, when their just selling themselves short for all the hard work they have accomplished.

i know this is old but i have to put my word in. i do not believe in god, i like the bible for the rules and morals it has, but the stories, are just that for me,stories. i was brainwashed from a young age into believing this stuff, because i was never taught anything else. this religion was all i knew. until my dad became a jahova witness and i got confused between baptist and watch tower. thats when i began to take in the theory of evolution and such. i have no idea how this world came to be. but on this earth, there is practically a logical explanation for everything. death is just apart of being on this earth . we use eachothers love and support until we pass on . and we continue to teach and show our love and support unto our family friends. people die for a reason, without death the world would be overpopulated, as simple as that. i know u dont want to think of your dad as being part of the stabilization of the population. but attachment of objects and other is what we build our lifes off of. basically, were in the circle of life and we're here to pursue happiness...thats our goal, to be happy. loved ones are only gone through people who havent been shown their love or support. everything they stoodfor is apart of who you are, and who you are going to be. genetically and mentally. lol i dunno why i like to play psychiatrist. i just like to help people
