This site just doesn't give a shit anymore about the scammers or what? This is the largest cheating community yet the amount of attention put into the scammer section and prevention is pathetic...

 

i haven't been here for long but i agree with you. A few days ago when i was planning on buying a pin, the seller was like we don't need mm. I think it should be a rule that You have to use a official mm.

 

It's hard to deal with the continual stupidity of a bunch of 11 year olds.

 

The Moderators aren't getting paid to look through all the reports.

Plus, most of the time it's the buyers' fault. I see time and time again people buy a account for 10m from a guy who joined 10 days ago with 50 posts, and get scammed. I see time and time again people who don't use a unoffical/offical and complain about getting scammed by a leecher.

 

You don't understand they don't even bother to ban the scammers because a lot
of the reports are left unanswered. If you go to any other forum they deal with all their reports yet Sythe doesn't. I guess it made me realize why sythe has such a bad rep.
And if the mods can't handle it then why did you accept your position in the first place.

 

I agree, hardly anyone puts effort into report a scammer.

 

very true, i think if they arent doing their jobs they should lose their position...

 

there is only so far you can go to get a bunch of 10-12 year old kids to understand the pre-emptive measures to prevent scamming.

but of course, you're too ignorant and tunnel-visioned to see that it takes INVESTIGATION into the scammer reports, it's not just a simple "Oh this person reported this person, let's just ban him now."

if you've got a problem with the way things are handled, leave, simple.

This is called inactivity, and it has been done many times before.

They need to reply to them all? as long as they see the thread, do the investigation, than ban him/her, is that not enough? or do they need to reply to the thread?

 

Eben if scams are the buyers fuault they are still scams, no?

 

Though I would like to see a more friendly Sythe like the rest of you-
I cannot agree that the mods aren't 'doing their jobs'.

First, moderating isn't a job, its a volunteer-based service to the community. There are plenty of people out there in cyber space who DO get paid to do the exact same job that these individuals do for free.

Second, the idea of a Utopian Sythe (no scams, perfect World, everyone agrees, etc.) is a bit foolish. Realistically, there will always be scammers/idiots/"evil-doers".

This isn't a solid fact- but I'll conjecture that someone is scammed on Sythe every few hours of every day.. Each person submits their own report in a tone as if the sky itself was collapsing..(i.e. "FUCKING GLOBAL EMERGENCY- I WAS SCAMMED 2M!!!) I'm sure this makes it extremely difficult to prioritize the reports, and so reports are viewed mainly on a 'first-come, first-serve' basis.

Now, I'm not suggesting that a detailed response to every report isn't possible, just not yet.. Although you don't always receive a response to your report, this doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been handled or prioritized. Keep an eye on your report views and you can bet that at least 1 of the new views was from a moderator. I would guess that in most cases of unanswered reports there is simply a lack of proof to 'convict'.

Anyways- thats just my understanding of the situation.

 

Keep in mind that sectional mods arn't really supposed to do the Report a Scammer thread.
However, sieving through all the reports is not an easy task. It would take hours and hours to do them.
Some mods can't reallt afford to loose that much of thier time in one go, and i'm sure you wouldn't either.

 

Most mods are active for about 1 hour a day.

Why?

Because they have their own lifes, most mods are 17+ year olds and has homework, friends/girlfriends, chores in the real life to do. They dont have to work their asses of staring at you're text logs because you're stupid enough to get scammed even though there are about 20 stickies all about the security and tips of how not to get scammed. Also, pretty much 85 percent of all the reports will be looked into, and they will most likely ban them without answering to the thread. They banned him, why would they take time to just type the measly sentence "Thanks, banned".

 

And when they are here they don't bother to go through the reports.

TDD don't give me this bullshit that they have to investigate when theres threads that are a month old and theres clear proof of someone scamming yet no one takes action? Or for that matter any other thread that shows clear proof. They don't bother to go through and find the real ones.

Sythe isn't capable of doing that? Yet sites like Fagex, rsforums and others are?


I am not talking about the text logs I am talking about the ones with solid proof. And I am not asking for a utopia but they need to do a better job then what there doing now -.-

 

we should get more mods if the mods that we have now cant control whats going on. or you should ban everyone that is under a certain age that way you can have better control on the 11year olds when they come back in

And the result of that would be: Just as many scammers, but with TONS of spam in every other sub-forum.

It also just plain isn't fair.. Some people don't come here to chat and be merry- they come to do business, plain and simple. I'm sure there's plenty of legit black market regulars with a post count below 200..

 

With the many, many ways people can now mimic, frame, etc. they DO have to be investigated to prove it's not just a frame job, as I said earlier, got a problem with how the staff do things, leave.

 

Lets see you are a gfx mod you probably don't even browse the black market I want an answer from a global or an admin except Pen I know he does a lot of the reports.

I don't like the ways things are done and why would I leave I built myself a good rep here because I thought it was the best community I donated 16M.

TDD this is feedback incase you can't read and maybe you should stick to GFX sec and let someone who actually is in charge of that section give me an answer.

 

yea i had real good proof on a scammer but i dont think anyone looked at it yet. if we dont ban these people, they will keep on with consequences
