I think they were predicting there own destruction, not the entire worlds(since they couldn't of known of other continents existence back in 500 A.D.). And if they were predicting there own destruction, they would of been wrong, since their civilization collapsed around 800 A.D.

umm look around you, i see plenty of earthquakes and fires, but on topic. Simply i do not think the world will end in 2012, its like me saying the world will end in 2009, it might happen but not very likely at all.

NOSTRADOMAs orwtfever his name is, he is predicting something big, well he's not doing it they found his last book/scroll and its his biggest prediction, he predicted 'huge buildings being hit with a flying object and crashing to the earth' and hurricane katrina, both in the us, sorry to leave anyone out, loll... he didnt only do that, the new one may be of the last day of our lives.

Well guys scientists all around the world have said that there will be a planet alighnment or however you spell it that only happens every 13,000 years... and it happens in 2012 look it up

 

And if there is? What is an alignment of planets going to do to life on Earth?

Btw an alignment of Planets will not harm life on earth, Religion is a load of bullshit, and all the 3 y.o. reading this thread no your not going to die, if you understood science you would see the globic calender can not be affected by anything but the sun crasing into the earth and bending the outer baloon anyone who didnt understand that heres a simplifyed version, When the sun crashes into earth, the earth will end then remake it's self, BTW new research in global warming suggests that we are spinning away from the sun which is a good thing. Actually the Mayans were very accurate where calendars come in. They invented the modern calendar year and calculated the number of days in a year to several percent within what it is now...maybe .17 I believe...I may be wrong. One thing to consider though, they used their calendar to tell on which days would be good for performing certain actions, such as farming, harvesting, procreating, war, etc. While they were intelligent, there was also a degree of mysticism and religious overtones involved, which, I believe, will all come to be of no consequence. (If you believe we will die, however, I will happily relieve you of all your RS accounts in 2011...PM me...)
